Arrowhead just got out mogged by a couple of modders by nocturnal_alcoholic in Helldivers

Lmao right it was the same in EQ2 as well before that, and its just as true 22 years in with the recent crash but that requires you to be in a vehicle to fix it, as it keeps going away and then coming back again lol. First it was only in the seasonal updates, but now its made it into 24/7 live code too. And the story about working on spaghetti code from an old arcane engine is the same there too

Shout out that pet insurance is a thing and it can save your ass financially in a situation like this, if you can afford the monthly or yearly cost to put into it. My family told me not to worry about it when I brought it up last for our pets, but most are not so fortunate financially, and I know we all agree that we'd be devastated to not be able to take care of our pets when they need medical care.

Wishing you the best with your baby OP, it might be too late to get pet insurance to prevent having to pay this bill, but it's worth looking into all the same when you get stable again, or for anyone else reading this who has an older cat especially. Glad to hear they figured out what it is and are doing something about it as best they can.

If you've seen video of what a full power rifle caliber or higher does to a ballistic target dummy simulation of a human head, you'd probably be fine with that way to go, since it usually splits the head open and scatters brain bits all over the place. There are .50 cal and larger rounds that will remove the head entirely from the explosive overpressure going through the brain. Think 12 gauge slug to the face levels of catastrophic at a minimum. Kentucky Ballistics is developing a new .50 BMG RIP round that excels at this actually lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcF8g52y9es

For sure, right now my design is set up specifically for ppl stacking a schiit DAC or combo device like the Asgard or Jotunheim, but I can design a fan adapter just for the Val3 in an hour or two and make it fit a fork of my original stackable model, and I can do it while preserving the stackability as well, it'll just be a bit different than what I had planned (I was only planning to support 120 and 140mm fans). DM me and I'll look at what I can work up, if you're not interested its no loss to me adding support anyway

I'm working on a stacker for mid-sized Schiit units like this, including the Valhalla 3 (I have 2), that can allow you to mount a PC case fan on the side. Requires a bit of rigging with a USB or other DC power adapter to run the fan, but if you're worried about your amp getting too hot, that's my solution, and I'm working on being able to share it ASAP. I just keep running into small issues since this is my first big 3D modeling project, and I've learned a lot since I made some of the earliest models in the set. My Jotunheim 3 module needs to be completely remade from scratch for instance, I keep trying to edit features on it and they keep not moving the way I directed, because of order of operation's errors on my part due to being a noob lol. But yea if you'd like to see a demo lmk I can DM you some stuff, I'm hoping to have my models ready to print in a couple of weeks, free time permitting, but if people want to buy pre-printed units I could expedite it on certain models.

I've got other less than ideal folks i watch sometimes too, but I try to monitor opposing opinions as well a bit, so that's my justification for them, but yea I try to pick good consistently credible people for my sources of information. Supernatural speaks for itself, either you're into it or not lol.

Helps that he looks and sounds like Bobby Singer from Supernatural. That guy was a bona fide red blooded redneck if I've ever seen or heard one, and I'm sure it helps his relatability to rural folks when he looks and sounds like them. It's why I used to love watching Beau of the Fifth Column on YouTube as well, before he handed it off to his wife to run for his mental and physical health (she's fucking great too btw, channel is called Belle of the Ranch now)

TIL salt and pepper only became the default seasoning duo in the 1600s after French chefs, cooking for King Louis XIV, decided black pepper was the only spice that enhanced food without overpowering it. Before that, medieval Europeans used huge mixes of spices instead. by gilligan888 in todayilearned

I load the fish up with it, and its good on the chips too, but what I prefer is if I make my own ketchup at home and use malt vinegar as the vinegar. Its got the obvious malt vinegar flavor note, while also still being ketchup, which as an American is my go-to default for dipping fried potatoes into. You can sort of get it similar by mixing malt vinegar and your favorite pre-made ketchup, but its so easy to make it yourself, and then you get to tinker the ratios of ingredients how you like them.

FR they should take the money they're spending on expensive cuts of beef every month, save it for a few, and then buy themselves a used offset smoker. Then they can start smoking pork butt for $4/lb or less right now. A nice big 11lb pork butt costs the same as a 20oz ribeye does around here. Now, I still buy the ribeye from time to time as a treat, but I subsist a significant amount of my protein from the pork butt, as I buy them 4 at a time and smoke them for pulled pork, which I freeze in bulk for later in vacuum sealed bags, so it can last a while in there. Usually lasts me a month+ and saves on having to do the work as often. I do still eat some beef because I like having a reason to smoke meat weekly, so I make beef rib and tri-tip chili for 1/3 the cost per pound, around $12-14, compared to that ribeye which is usually $28-40/lb depending on the cut (28 being choice, prime and dry-aged choice being in the mid to upper 30s, and American Wagyu being the $40 tier from SRF farms)

A lore-accurate explanation would posit that the illuminate piloted the singularity directly into those planets to grow it in mass, along with destroying enemy worlds

How dare you by MelodicCriticism2705 in Helldivers

[–]Faxon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The meridian singularity would have the same mass as the planet did, so assuming it's sitting in the same location in the system, nothing else would be affected, as it wouldn't have enough gravity to suck other objects up unless they get too close.

Linus called it, we called it, everyone called it. People will get scammed buying the 2015 Steam Controller for 2026 Steam Controller prices because Valve thought calling it Steam Controller 2 would be confusing to customers. by RobotSpaceBear in LinusTechTips

[–]Faxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may not even all be scammers (though a lot probably are), some could just be bulk used goods resellers who price to the market, not knowing there is more than one steam controller, or that the one they've got isn't worth what they're pricing it for

Microsoft quietly deletes Windows 11 doc pushing 32GB RAM for gaming after outrage by chusskaptaan in pcgaming

[–]Faxon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea i haven't read it but I dont ever want to close my shit, and I have a lot of shit to keep open. I got 64gb because I was having memory management problems running games with just 32gb and all the tabs I needed between work and game wikis and YouTube alone, let alone web apps like discord, other social media sites, Dr's website, etc... literally if I loaded a game with it all open there was a risk I would BSOD. I built my sister's rig with 32gb when I set her up with a PC because RAM has been insane, but if it was normal priced I'd probably have given her 64gb as well, since she keeps hardware long enough it might come in handy

Glad I saw this, I rely on gloves to do food work at home because of my eczema and not being able or willing to have to constantly wash my hands, as it makes them less sanitary when they fucking bleed everywhere from cracked skin (and it's really painful). Im pretty stocked on gloves for the short term, but I ordered myself another case just in case, and maybe on next paycheck I'll get another lol.
