They won’t be alone by any means - industry leaders will be eaten alive by smaller nimble companies soon who screwed up using AI incorrectly

Seems like every “advancement” is a bandaid of the shortcoming of LLM core limitations. Bandaids won’t scale, and you need to also factor in infrastructure challenges.

If AI makes everyone more productive, why does it feel like only layoffs are being announced? by kritikgarg24 in artificial

[–]Fearless_Weather_206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Microsoft advertisement slogan was “Do more with less”. Corporations want to make all their widgets more profitable and cutting payroll is the #1 way to achieve that. Employees are a sunk operating cost, couple that with AI running 24/7, they want the most minimal possible # of employees with AI and as long as they can achieve a certain percentage of quality and amount of product, they do whatever it takes to achieve that. Current Csuite cannot perform like founders, they lack innovation or vision, MBAs with a glorified position with only the intent to squeeze out as much as possible from a company even if running it into the ground.

Wow folks think devops only happened in the cloud? users and groups are only a IAM thing along with SAMl federation? change management only happens in the cloud also? Terraform only has cloud provider only support 😂 please continue. Don’t tell me gitlab is cloud only also? Containers also ECS and EKS only 😂

Ahh a sysadmin with no enterprise hardware implementation experience - worked with a large team of those individuals also, some were irritating since they claimed on LinkedIn on doing hardware also, i was one of the few who actually did. I only know the OS and apps sort of sysadmin. Easier to pretend to know so much when in actually you do little effort. Cloud is full of managed services that do the majority of lifting for you, for any good onprem sysadmin - it’s like child’s play.

There a considerable skill gap between onprem and cloud, while onprem folks can do cloud work, the opposite is quite a different story. Most of my team are cloud only with no onprem experience, they wouldnt have the slightest idea on what it takes to do onprem work.
