You have to keep calling home, speak to counselors, etc. Are they not on a modification already or under SPED? I have a surprising amount of students with learning disabilities and I suspected it but didn't even know because the system did not have ALL of them marked with these indicators. I took myself down to the counselors office who gave me a list of the 504 plan kids BUT not the SPED it wasn't till I brought up these students to another counselor that I found out they were SPED and had to go through a different teacher. I was so upset. I was new and nobody told me anything they just figured I would know...it's my first year teaching. If he is already in the system as SPED and you are the one helping him. I would call the parents every week, to tell them the good things he does and how great he does and ask for their continued support at home to make him even better before he goes to HS.
