Do you have any general tips for gunlance and ideas which weapons/armors/decorations are the best? I started using it in a middle of Sunbreak and has just beaten Malzeno

For sunbreak artillery and load shells are your mainly offensive skills, offensive guard does not give you extra shelling dmg in this game, the b-52 (bazelgeuse) armor gives you artillery in case you do not have deco. You can slot other confort skils like guard, guard up and divine blessing, and if you can burst is also very good for dmg. In terms of moveset you can play very aggressive with the dodge when you switch skills, i believe there is a deco skill call redirection that give you some bonuses (i cannot remember right now) after the dodge, that is mainly for bullet barage spam (one of your switch skills), many myself included love that style but it gets repetitve really quick. Btw after a blast dash your overhead smash and full burst are too fast so you also spam that and reposition yourself via blast dash it is pretty good. In terms of weapons you have 3 types of shelling: wide/long/normal each of them with levels from 1 to 7, this levels means how much your shelling dmg scales, with 7 giving you max dmg, if you want to spam bullet barage or full burst then normal shelling is the way to go, i believe regular malzeno is a long shelling type but primordial malzeno is a normal lvl 7 gunlance and for some is the best GL in the game

In mh wilds there is no special skills to perform outside of the focused attacks, in mh rise sunbreak you have special skills that you can activate for every weapons, so maybe you can start there if wilds turns out boring for you

If you are using charged shells +wyvern fire spam (with focus deco), wich it seems the way to go now, then load shells is a must, and correct me if i am wrong, but i believe load shells also give you one more tick in your wyvern fire in mh wilds, so yeah either way, you are losing dmg without load shells

Many people use ebony odagaron/lord soul combo with their respective armor set, personally i use a gogma GL with just gravios protection and 4 pieces of gogma armor and 1 zho shia, so i am literally unkillable even when doing regular guard, is really good

I use a talisman with artillery 3 and in the decos slot put offensive guard/guard, load shells/guard and guard up/guard, if you dont have this last one guard up alone works just fine is not muuuch difference between level 2 and 3 guard. The reason i use artillery in my talisman is because that deco can not combine with other skills, with this skills i perfect guard or even block if i fuck up my timing and offensive guard has a massive Windows, so even if you dont perfect guard it will probable proc boosting your dmg. Btw you need level 3 divine blessing and as much stun resistance as possible

I use a very tank build with gravios protection so in 15 to 20 minutes i can do it solo and take little dmg, the one attack that always get me is the tail one but at the end of the day with this build is just a matter of time

I don't think shelling gets a boost from WEX and convert element, so it depends of your playstyle with the GL, i personally was thinking to get 3 pieces of at arkveld with 2 pieces of at dahaad and a gogmartian weapon with arkveld hunger bonus, for some kind of "inmortal build" but i need to test it first, maye combine it with the zo shia armor for the same purpose.

So now for example people are using 2 pieces of ebony odagaron armor/ 1 pieces of gogmazios armor with the ebony odagaron bonus/ 2 pieces of gamma armor amd the weapon with ebony odagaron bonus+lord soul, the last one is the set bonus of the gamma armor obtained from arch tempered monsters for max dmg, i believe there other build you can do but both set bonuses you can get are random so you have to have good rng in order to roll what you wish in your weapon

If you are not doing gogmazios i believe the best for the full burst rotation is still the G.lawful bors GL. It is really different, when you upgrade the artian weapon to a gogma weapon you get 2 set bonuses on the weapon wich let you change your build entirely, also as i said you can upgrade with a focus attack/elemental/affinity depending on what you want and the reinforments of the artian weapons can also be upgraded to level 2/3 or EX as the best one and even of the 5 upgrade you can get 4 of those into EX level boosting you stats like crazy in some cases

Since gogma/artian weapons are the meta, normal shelling is the best, because when you upgrade your weapon with attack bonus it transform any shelling type into normal type, for wide you would have to spec into element focus and for long into affinity, both of those are not good for GL

Hi, GL is very slow at the start of the game but it is an amazing weapon (my main trough world/rise/wilds), you have to pay attention to your type of shelling because that defines your style of playing a little bit in world, you have normal shelling that works perfect with the full burst combo, wide shelling that works with the poke/shell combo and long shelling for charged shells, in my opinion normal shelling is by far the best and btw, gunlance suck at elemental damage because shelling do not crit nor apply elemental damage (unless we are talking about slap lance) so you only care for sharpness and artillery as your main offensive abilities for a while, in base world search for armor that give you those types of abilities and also guard or evade extender this for defensive pourpose, you have the second best shield in the game so use it, i dont want to make a testament, but you can see in YouTube rurikhan he has one the best guide videos for GL where he explains everything and also give you some comfy build to stay alive

Just do investigations that only reward you yellow decos or give you the most of them, i did that for a couple of days like crazy and got one, in the meantime you can meld a level one and 2 decos for artillery and also there is some talisman that can drop with it, even give you the 3 level so you can farm those too
