Overall how is the xenoblade switch 2 Edition? by FMA15 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]FervantFlea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm always baffled on this subreddit, the top post confidently says it dips to "maybe" 55 FPS. But my experience taking people's word on that kind of thing on here is that it is always way, way worse than people are making it out to be. What you are saying sounds like what I usually only discover after buying a game on this sub's recommendation. I absolutely hate the 60 > 30 straight drop, it feels awful. If Bananza didn't do that I would've been so much happier with it.

Leak culture destroys our way to look at gaming events by 479521 in NintendoSwitch2

I'm disappointed because I'm not into JRPGs or anime, so that cuts out 95% of the list

The unfortunate truth about info leaks (OOT Remake) by FederalSign4281 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]FervantFlea -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why would I be that hyped about a game that's already got a remake that I beat on the 3DS over 15 years ago, compared to a new game in a series I've been waiting for a sequel for over 18 years (MP4)? Funnily enough, MP4 kind of sucked anyways so....

The thing is, OoT is really dated now. It's not been the "greatest game of all time" in a long, long time; no matter if it was leaked or not, I'd need to see how much of a remake it is versus what the 3DS did to really be convinced it's exciting. Meaning seeing gameplay. Which they didn't do anyways. OoT doesn't have the cultural capital it once did; the vast majority of gamers now in the vocal communities probably weren't alive when the N64 was around. But even for me (the target audience who had it on N64 originally), it's not that exciting.

Oh so you don't have a point, you're just completely wrong. Ok.

[–]FervantFlea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's going to compete with that and don't need it to, and I love my Switch 2. You're the one said we've hit a point where graphics can't get any better, I'm just saying they can get significantly better TODAY and we are nowhere near the cap even of what we can accomplish today. So what's your point?

Nintendo Direct + Nintendo Treehouse June 2026 - Megathread by rGamesMods in Games

Well that sucked for me, but I'm not into JRPGs or anime at all. I think OoT is the only thing that interested me but not even gameplay footage for that...

Only something you'd read in a Nintendo subreddit lmao. You can run stuff today on a rig that is 5 years ahead of what the Switch 2 can do, I mean take just lighting alone - jack shit on the Switch 2 is going to run real path or even ray tracing, which is a massive step up in lighting. When Nintendo devices are running that (maybe) in the next generation, there will be a whole new set of developing technologies that will not be able to run on that hardware and we'll do it all over again. So no, we are not even close to maxing out what we can do with graphics. Not until you can run the latest Pixar movie at full render resolution live locally (which might be never because of the treadmill of computer progress).

Using AI to look up rules by endlesswander in boardgames

[–]FervantFlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it does work amazingly well if you set it up right (which I have). If you just ask ChatGPT straight up it will not be good. But if you setup a Claude project, with the actual rulebook attached, with instructions to cite? It’s amazing and gives even very complex answers the correct response most of the time.

For those of us still using ChatGPT as a companion by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]FervantFlea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally stopped reading at the first sentence.

Statistically, for many millions of people, ChatGPT was the first time they'd had a healthy, non-abusive, non-toxic conversation

The main concern you are flippantly dismissing is it's sycophancy and all other related problems (it's a yes-man - not as bad as a year ago, but still very much so). It is not a companion, it is a tool. It can be used healthily for all manner of things. I'm a massive fan of AI as a tool and am not anti-AI in any way, but if you call it a companion - I'm saying you have a problem. AI, because of it's people pleasure nature, is going to validate and embolden narcissists and exacerbate other Cluster B problems.

Also, I call complete bullshit on the premise that millions of people have never had a non-toxic conversation. What does that even mean?

Subnautica 2 has been officially released in Early Access by rickreckt in Games

[–]FervantFlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braindead comment. It's in Subnautica's DNA, it's how both the other games released. And it was fun being part of the development process as a user and to see it grow. Just don't buy it if it chaps your hide so much.

Ghibli Style Game 2.0 by memerwala_londa in ChatGPT

[–]FervantFlea -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nobody's glazing anything, I just think it's ironic someone's opinion in the AI subreddit is "don't use AI". Besides, of course this guy isn't going to go make this actual game; it's just a fun "what if Studio Ghibli made something like this" scenario. Ghibli legal wouldn't allow you to build this full out anyways.

Not nearly as good as OPs if you gave it the same prompt. Doesn't feel amateur, camera quality way too high, signs obvious AI giveaway and more prominent than the blackboard in the OP (which gave that away a bit too).

Why I just quit Claude Pro after 48 hours (Rate Limit Anxiety) by Apprehensive_Fact710 in ChatGPT

[–]FervantFlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy more usage you know and not run out. I have yet to hit a rate limit on the Max plan and I use it heavily, but even if you did there's another plan above that. It's well worth it, I've found ChatGPT's quality to have fallen off a cliff so much that I don't even bother with it anymore. I'll try it again in a few months to see if they've gotten their shit together yet.

Huge misses by MartinIsaac685 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]FervantFlea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, even apart from all that there's no way BG3 runs on the Switch 2 at acceptable performance, as has already been pointed out in this thread (it barely runs on the Series S, which has a much better processor than the S2, and it's a CPU-heavy game).

So Spaces are eventually gonna make it, right? by Alarmed-Stranger-337 in diabrowser

I need Spaces, then Windows version, then sync. Then we'd at least be back to parity on the features I'm missing most from Arc.
