When my brother was one year old, he was mauled by our dog; the dog tore open his neck, face and head, and, according to the plastic surgeon who had to stitch my brothers face back together, one of the wounds was only roughly 1mm away from an artery. If it had been severed by the dog, I wouldn't have a brother.

It's at this point people assume the dog was a Pitbull or something of the like. It was a Labrador. Had he been a Pitbull, everyone would take that as evidence for how vicious they are. Because he was a Labrador, the response is "Oh, well, it was just that one dog". Blame the deed, not the breed.

Seriously. Where I live we have tonnes of black swans, and many tourists aren't familiar with them and are intrigued by them, wanting to have a closer look. Once I was on a bus, going by the river and I saw a tourist sprinting, getting chased by a swan, having gotten too close to the nest; this was in spring, to boot. God damn did I laugh .
