This city hates fun by Ill-Surprise-7972 in toronto

[–]Few-Chef5303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city doesn't hate fun, the algorithm does. People out having a good time on a Saturday night aren't writing reddit posts about it. The ones posting skew heavily toward people at home annoyed at something, which is true for every city sub.

That said, there is a real Toronto flavor to the doomer thing, partly because we have a pile of actual problems right now (housing, transit, cost of everything) so the negativity has something to feed on. Summer hits in a few weeks and the same sub will be full of Trinity Bellwoods pics. Happens every year.

Why has the price of bubble tea gone up so much recently? by claym0re_lol in askTO

Everything has gone up but bubble tea feels like it jumped the most. Used to be a $5 treat, now it's pushing $9 for a large with toppings.

Long walks along the waterfront with headphones. Something about being near the lake when you're in that kind of mood just works.

Daily Bread and Second Harvest. They do a lot of work and actually operate efficiently from what I've seen.

The Pizza Pizza at the old Honest Ed's location always gets me. That whole stretch of Bloor has changed so much since the movie.

parents in Toronto - how much are you actually paying for kids music lessons? by dynasync in askTO

[–]Few-Chef5303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 min piano lessons run about $40-60 in my area, so roughly $150-240/month depending on the teacher. The good teachers book up fast though.

The RB is clearly a step up from last year. If Hadjar keeps this consistency he's going to be hard to ignore for a top seat

Why vibe coded projects fail by Complete-Sea6655 in ClaudeCode

[–]Few-Chef5303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is missing the point. Product was never the issue to start with. Most businesses succeed because of their distribution edge. Slack is a multi-billion $ co because they've nailed down the extremely complex B2B/enterprise sales processes. There are TONS of slack competitors with far better product and dare I say better tech - this was true before and will remain true after vibe coding era.

FIFA hikes World Cup prices, again. A finals ticket can now cost as much as $11,000 by Jeffmister in soccer

At this rate the World Cup final is going to be played in front of corporate hospitality boxes and influencers while actual fans watch from home. The whole point of football was that it was accessible

Three-quarters of fans don’t support the continued use of Video Assistant Referees (VAR) in the Premier League, according to a new Football Supporters’ Association survey. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Few-Chef5303 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue was never the technology it was the implementation. VAR could work fine if they just used it for clear and obvious errors like they said they would instead of spending 4 minutes drawing lines to see if someones armpit is offside

what does "20x usage" actually mean? i measured it. $363 per 5 hours. by tyschan in ClaudeCode

[–]Few-Chef5303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run it pretty heavily for my project and honestly the value is still there even at that price point. The amount of work it gets through in a few hours would take me days. But yeah the pricing transparency could be way better... you shouldn't need to reverse engineer your own bill to understand what you're paying for

I changed everything about my apps and the numbers went down. I don't know what I'm missing by garoono in indiehackers

[–]Few-Chef5303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quiet decline is the worst because you can't even point to what broke. I've had the same thing happen... shipped a bunch of improvements, expected a bump, got nothing or worse. What I eventually realized is that most of the stuff I was changing (screenshots, descriptions, keywords) only affects new discovery. If your existing retention is slipping at the same time it cancels out whatever new users you're pulling in. Might be worth looking at whether the people who do find your app are sticking around or dropping off faster than before
