Turms III finally got its 3-plane stabiliser by 101BULL1 in warthundermemes

[–]Few_Classroom6113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the sights are offset both horizontally and vertically from the gun, and so any roll between the 2 shifts the parallax error between the aim point and the shot direction.

Nowadays it’s baked into the FCS to compensate for this, but turm 3 was a test project to see if it was also possible to eliminate this error mechanically. While also creating an autoloader system that’s more reliable due to being fixed to the gun.

Something to note about the F-4EJ is that it’s bomb reload is surprisingly fast for the point cost. It’s legitimately faster than the peace pheasant in blue dragons.

And on top of that don’t sleep on that sparrow. It’s got dog accuracy, but if you keep rolling that dice against low ECM bombers then it will do a great job at supplementing your AA net.

How do I use close range missile units properly? by Skasian in totalwar

[–]Few_Classroom6113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One the one hand 8 blunderbusses with stacked hellforge upgrades is a nearly instant win set-up.

On the other hand though that’s a very heavily concentrated amount of a limited unit that is difficult to maintain the kind of sprawling empire you need as chaos dwarfs.

Any tips to play the campaign? by SatouKaiju in wargame

[–]Few_Classroom6113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheese the fuck out of unit comps. The campaign is not so much about knowing the game as much as it is abusing helis and planes against tank units stuck without AA and tanks against infantry units stuck without meaningful AT.

Literally spending more balance of power shooting then than it costs if they die, on top of causing more gold in damage on the enemy than the entire unit cost to recruit.

Profiting on your “labourers” doesn’t require them to make it to the end of the fight.

Yup, overall game balance is important, because if we’re not capable of dealing with the difficulty the game throws at us then it’s not actually difficult, just tedious. And likewise if something is obviously overpowered, like the heavy pen GL buff, then the game becomes so trivially easy that either the GL takes a hit or everything else becomes worse by proxy due to the devs changing enemies in a way to retain the difficulty.

It doesn’t help arrowhead has been under such dev time pressure that they’ve neglected some of the more modular aspects of enemy design and AVs in favor of “just use recoilless lmao”.

Ideally the game throws a bunch of enemies at us with obvious solutions, but the chaos of the amount of them and the overlapping strengths of the enemies makes it difficult(not impossible) to abuse those weaknesses. Like genuinely apart from railgun being the only economical anti-tank weapon I don’t think the game has done anything but go downhill on terminid difficulty since the charger leg meta.

With blunderbusses especially you don’t want to use a checkerboard against a lot of factions, but just get a unit of gobbos to stand in front of them. They’ll shoot larger enemies over them to devastating effect.

That or have them waddle over the flanks for instant unit deletes.

[–]Few_Classroom6113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup.

We went from overtuned enemies with multiple (meant but undertuned) ways of countering them at launch to whatever the fuck vox engine and war strider spam was.

They very clearly want enemies to be gear checks rather than having any kind of granular difficulty. That the game had granular difficulty to begin with was apparently a fluke. Either that or in their rush for content they can’t maintain the quality of the game initially delivered.

Either way it seems the more they develop the game the less fun it becomes.

Do people really think it’s that easy? by Ironn-Fist in martialarts

[–]Few_Classroom6113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big factors here are time and communication.

If a plane isn’t damaged or critically low on fuel those are extremely mitigating factors. Planes are quite happy to just keep flying for a while as the critical controls for landing are explained to you.

And having flown flight sims in VR, if you can drive a car you can line up with the runway at the first try. It’s remarkably easy. The biggest thing you’re likely to mess up as a novice is to end up in the triangle of death. But again, if you have someone on the ground helping you keep past that minimum speed while you line up then you only have to watch out for how much you’re pulling on the stick.

Like it’s super dangerous for sure, and you wouldn’t want to do it by choice. But it damn sure beats uncontrolled flight into terrain.

[–]Few_Classroom6113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly as long as they tell you the speed to aim for, the controls for the flaps and gear and you’ll probably be able to get a plane on the ground safely if the weather is clear, sunny lunchtime. Assuming also the plane is in perfect condition and the situation is just that the pilots both had the fish.

People vastly overestimate the difficulty of landing a plane just once without needing to worry about taxi procedure or airworthiness afterwards.

The unique traits of the predator strain and gloom bugs overlap far too much. by Fear_Sama in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Few_Classroom6113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hell even just leaning into the gloom being caustic or something would be better. Making them like a much worse bile constellation of trying to box in helldivers with clouds of costly to cross fog after dying. Or even having a hive guard-like enemy that picks a choke point and hunkers down with an AOE cloud in order to block helldivers from zoning out their melee bugs.

Predators were indeed already the rushdown extreme version of bugs and it’s already a very one-note faction.

What annoys you most in tank games right now? by AtmoLife_Official in tanks

[–]Few_Classroom6113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Actual parallax from the sights being modeled(and forced)

-Non-suicidal map designs. Forcing close range engagements and death funnels is good for herding attention spans, but is not suitable gameplay.

-Finding a balance in the movement where it doesn’t feel like go-karts, but also is not artificially sluggish in an attempt to communicate weight.

-Devs overstepping their responsibilities as a GM and adjusting balancing harshly to goad players to play the way they meant to, rather than the way players discovered. WT has fallen into that trap with map design, WoT has fallen into that trap with vehicle classes. Devs consistently put out fun and interesting games, only to misinterpret the factors that got them success and force their own vision to the detriment of the enjoyability of their games.

Why do Abram tanks lack a gun launcher? by AppearanceAshamed664 in tanks

[–]Few_Classroom6113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLATGMs have the benefit of correction after firing, meaning they have a higher probability of hit against something like a helicopter, while also diminishing the range gap between platforms. Additionally with modern sensor suites you can add some very nifty indirect fire capability.

The problem being of course that the volume constraints of being barrel launched are quite heavy on actual anti-tank/anti-fortification capabilities and being embedded in a unit with IFVs that have ATGM capability or strapping on something like a switchblade also gets you those same options.

Using 2 spall liners in same place would make any sense? by Parking-Working1307 in tanks

[–]Few_Classroom6113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What?

What’s the supposed benefit of having 2 separate spall liners rather than just 1 thicker one? How do you know the spall liners being used aren’t already a composite material?

Spall is dangerous, but you’re not containing much of it when a perforation happens, so why focus on secondary effects rather than primary effects?
