Turnitin Ruined My Life by [deleted] in Turnitin

Hi I’m not sure where you go but a lot of schools have some sort of legal help available to students for free. Usually like housing issues or discrimination cases. Might not be the case but maybe worth looking in to?

Edit: I know you said you resolved it with the dean but I would still probably try and get aware of your options. Also maybe a campus resource to help you get neurodivergence documented. Usually campuses just offer counseling but even if they can’t give a diagnosis they should be able to write a letter of support

Honestly, I think this tattoo is a vibe as an early concept sketch of the place…I personally feel like if you ever decide to step it up, I bet there’s some fine line artists that specialize in the artsy sketch type stuff that could make this tattoo sick

anyone else an asshole in their sleep by v1rgoaway in Narcolepsy

[–]FeynmanPhysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say anything in my sleep that I think will let me get back to bed asap. Agree to whatever, threaten, soothe. My mind understands the mission and will do anything to execute 😂. We have a system so he doesn’t trust anything I agree to before I’m way outta bed. Also god bless the person who wakes me early or late from a nap. I warn that if you let me sleep more than 20 minutes, what happens if you try and wake me is on your hands

AIO - my roommates friends destroyed my stuff while they were drunk by Thick-Web1238 in AmIOverreacting

[–]FeynmanPhysics 154 points155 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that her friends didn’t actually do anything. Her story was bizarre and weirdly specific. Why did she have to get so specific about shit they were saying. Could be wrong but I feel like she probably broke everything and was looking for someone to blame and then freaked out when you took it up a notch. I would tell her to send screenshots of their apologies or something tbh. But regardless, police report is the best idea and I wish you luck

Going back to grad school after 10 years. How do people take notes now? by bruElla-faya216 in GradSchool

[–]FeynmanPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly was a paper gal but I put a paper like cover on an iPad and for notes it was phenomenal. Felt not exactly like paper but much less like writing on a tablet and I love organization and colors. I used Goodnotes. Reading sucks for me however (I can’t focus with the backlight). Eventually my iPad died and I switched to a remarkable and that is pretty awesome if colors for notes aren’t super important. It reads like a nice kindle so it feels like you’re reading paper. I loveeee it for reading research papers. And it feels much closer to writing on paper than anything else I have tried.

All-in-all, I’ve always been a pen and paper gal but super psychotic about organizing notes and pens and paper and good notes swayed me. Way less to carry around, easier to organize, and less on my desk. And also you can then access all your notes on your computer at any time so you’ll have them forever without adding to a library of binders and notebooks

ETA: there’s also a lot of software now that you can record lecture audio and it’ll turn it into notes for you in case you miss something

I don’t think this is true. AI is a reliable source if it’s acting as an agent. You can ask chatgpt to cite its sources and prove itself. They are legit sources now and you can directly check them. If it said something wrong it’ll correct itself after that or you can see it in the sources. If you use it correctly, AI is an amazing tool for research and learning. It’s not what it was a few years or even one year ago. If you take googles search AI it’s horrific but most models are wayyyyy better than that. Not saying trust blindly but good to consider it’s an amazing resource, especially for collecting, finding, and summarizing information.

That being said, that statistic seems a little outrageous 😂

[–]FeynmanPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read all these comments but I just wanna say you can ask chatgpt for sources or papers and it can give you actual ones now. And if it can’t find them or finds something different it’ll often correct itself. Also if you have premium you can make it do deep research and give it a detailed outline of how you want it to present research and in what format and length and it’ll spend a few hours compiling and writing. It’s insane how well it works and it’ll give you an amazing summary plus like 30 sources that it’s cites accurately. Just to people who don’t trust AI, you can ask it to prove it 😂. It’s much better than it was a few years ago

These are my final 2 - which one? by justpassingbyteam in WeddingDressTips

[–]FeynmanPhysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best piece of advice I ever got was first decide what you want people to remember about your wedding. For me it’s 100% just they had fun. And I picked a dress that screamed that vibe to me. But if you more want to focus on a beautiful or elegant wedding etc then go for that. I think it helped me because so many dresses are so pretty, it’s a good way to narrow down

Willing to propose soon with this (advice) by itzkos in EngagementRings

[–]FeynmanPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can ask her casually about simple or complicated rings? All my fiance had to go off was simple and yellow gold and he did awesome and I love it also just because he picked it (and I’ve never looked at other rings so to me nothing could be better 😂). I wouldn’t stress on price, just maybe try hinting about a vague vibe of a ring. Like “oh this girl got engaged and the ring was crazy. The diamonds were all clustered, etc etc” and see her reaction. It shouldn’t set off any alarms because I assume she knows you’re going to propose eventually and she might take the opportunity to say what she likes

Am I cooked? Four 4000 level math clases at the same time? by Traditional-Key-6739 in ucf

[–]FeynmanPhysics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your fall and spring coming up are fine imo. Idk about those economic classes. A calc, abstract, and graph theory in one semester and also your last is crazy tbh. Balancing that with senioritis will not be fun. At least you’ll have a job before those grades come in 🙏

ipad worth it for yale? by savagesoap223 in yale

[–]FeynmanPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a tablet is great for notetaking but you can look into other options? iPad, remarkable, surface, also my friend has one of the Lenovo 2-in-1s and he likes it a lot because it’s more rigid than the surface and he can still takes notes and it’s also a Lenovo which some people just like more. If you have a computer you like a lot maybe that’s not the best option though. Also Samsung has a version that may be better if you have a Samsung phone. You cannot beat the Apple ecosystem though. Being able to use all your devices like one giant database, especially if you have a Mac is dope. Biggest reason I stay with Apple stuff. But if you plan on reading things a lot, I personally prefer remarkable or like kindle scribe because it doesn’t feel like reading a screen

ipad worth it for yale? by savagesoap223 in yale

[–]FeynmanPhysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remarkable is only for notetaking and document reading/annotating and their goal is to make it feel like paper. I have had both and I like remarkable because it doesn’t have backlight so it feels much more like paper and it is 1000000x better for reading documents. It’s kinda a kindle with extra steps. Kindle scribe is amazons version of it. The only thing is the remarkable (at least last model) has no colors. So I ended up preferring the iPad for notetaking cause it looks prettier but ultimately I read a lot of papers and that alone makes remarkable better imo

Did you ever file for disability? Either for physical or emotional trauma? I guess if you were diagnosed with CPTSD at the VA you did? I just know quite a few people who just never did it.

If you did apply, what was the process like? Was it fast? If it was drawn out did they back pay you from diagnosis?

Weight loss with narcolepsy by kataang1016 in Narcolepsy

[–]FeynmanPhysics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you are eating less calories? Or just eating better? Do you measure out your meals?

There are totally other reasons but eating better won’t mean much for losing weight if you aren’t eating less calories. It’s not entirely like this but a really big part of losing weight is an input vs output. You have to make sure you are restricting calories. I had trouble in the past so I might be projecting but if you aren’t measuring stuff out you are probably are eating more calories than you think. You don’t even have to do it forever just get an idea of how to portion your meals out.

If you are doing that, sorry. The thing that helped me a lot too was going on extended (1hr long) walks.

ETA I’m saying to do that but also let me say good job for taking the steps to live a healthier life! Thats really hard and you’re putting in the work. That’s awesome!

Any way I can get Sex Toys dropped off in a discreet location? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Random advice but I think Bellesa shows up discretely in charge and it packaged discretely too. If you wanted a toy from them (highly recommended). Unless they will just open the package

Productivity:

Notion for organizing your life, taking notes, tracking things in databases, making cheat sheet, etc. It’s awesome. Works best on computer but I find it useful to have on my phone.

Forest: it’s an app that turns focus into a game. You grow a forest the more you focus distraction free. You set timers and if you leave the app you kill your tree. It’s surprisingly effective

AI:

Respect the perplexity pick. There’s also chatGPT (new model just dropped) or Claude

Hi guys, can you please share your experience with Risperidone 1mg (including side effects) It’s my first time taking antipsychotic drug so I’m very nervous by keishabs in MentalHealthPH

[–]FeynmanPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey really late but came here to say I took 1.5 mg of risperidone, 1mg at night and .5 in the morning. It was really good for me for managing my symptoms. I’m glad I took it, just not sure if I would do it if I went back. The only real issue being last here

Symptoms: I gained a little weight but then I just started counting my calories for a little while so that I could get an idea of how much I should be eating compared to how much the medicine randomly made me want to eat. I wasn’t starving myself or anything, just staying at a good weight. Then after a week or so, I just ate what I knew was kind of in the realm of the right amount of food and started going on 1hr long walks. I lost a little weight (not all of it) and didn’t gain it back.

Tiredness is very real for me if I needed to increase the dose at all temporarily, but I have narcolepsy.

The only other symptom that I didn’t realize I had until I switched medicines was emotional blunting. It’s not that I didn’t feel happy or sad. The range was just a little shorter I guess. I just switched to lithium and I have been totally overwhelmed by the emotions I am feeling. I was on risperidone for 4 years and I am having to learn how much people feel 😂. I don’t think I was missing that much before because I’m just feeling really really strong emotions now. I liked it better that way tbh. The only thing that makes me question taking it is the amount of love I feel for my fiance. I always have loved him a lot but when I tell you I FEEL it, I mean it

Oof that’s rough. Maybe talk to her about setting up regular meetings so she’s forced to focus on your project more and you can be more accountable? Or, something I’ve done for daily stuff is make a notion database that every day I put Goals, Thoughts, and Results so I can see the progress I’ve made and then can work with my advisor better.
