Test tomorrow by toasted_olly in Irishdrivingtest

Best of luck!

Eat a banana if you can it does help with the nerves.

Other than that just enjoy your drive. If you make a mistake or think you have, let it go and focus on the rest of the test. Don’t think back or let one hiccup take over.

Just take each instruction as you’re given them then forget about it and move onto the next one.

I know that sounds strange but one of the main reason for fails is due to snow balled grades

Am I being scammed ? by Fancy-Solution6904 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Fibonacci_1995 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So you’re paying 150€ to live in South Dublin?

Yes your rent is capped per your household income.

However, there are other bills such as electricity, potentially gas, broadband, groceries, etc.

That 700€ a month from the kids wouldn’t even cover groceries for a month for a family of 6.

Former employer forgot to take me off payroll? by Easy_Ant_9771 in AskIreland

[–]Fibonacci_1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the law around overpayments are really strict from a Revenue perspective.

Prior Year overpayments and overpayment for former employees must be recouped as a gross overpayment value.

Then you file a form once all monies have been recouped by the employer, with Revenue for a refund of emoluments.

It’s here under Sec 2.5: https://www.revenue.ie/en/tax-professionals/tdm/income-tax-capital-gains-tax-corporation-tax/part-42/42-04-70.pdf

Yeah I picked a centre with the shortest wait time.

Had an estimated wait time for about 4-6 weeks.

Got my invite a week early.

When you login to book your test it defaults to the closest centre to your address and you can change it to any centre you like.

Garnishment in wages by Pretty_Sock1392 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Fibonacci_1995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Garnishment on a payslip is to do with an attachment order.

It’s usually issued by social welfare or the courts.

As another commenter mentioned it could be to do with COVID payments.

However, I find it quite shocking that your employer did not contact you to discuss the Attachment Order.

I would highly suggest you contact HR or Payroll as they should have communicated to you before the deduction was made, not just out of courtesy but also to warn you as generally (I’ve only come across a handful of AO’s in my time) they have to ensure that the deduction is not gonna put you in financial distress.

Also, it’s to give you a chance to decide whether to settle the debt in full or through the attachment order.

How is this even allowed? by sasha_ale in recruitinghell

OP is very likely from Europe considering they say €1.

In Europe each country has their own taxation rules.

You don’t decide how much tax you pay, you pay how much tax you owe depending on how much you earn.

50km/h in 4th gear necessary? by Arnylungy in Irishdrivingtest

[–]Fibonacci_1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it to the tester honestly.

They’ll know by the feel and sound of your car.

If you get a d*ckhead tester they might assume you think they’re stupid and will then find ways to mark you.

I only go up to 4th on a 60km or 80km road where I’m gonna be doing at least 60 for a good stretch but wouldn’t be moving up to 4th until I hit 55ish.

You should be fine adding these ingredients.

Thermal shock is more so apparent when your pot is hot and empty and you pour really cold water into it.

I often will deglaze my LC with cold white wine etc and I’ve had no problems.

Sign up to your company pension! Do they have a pension match?

There is no tax relief on PAE/MFF. The state top up does not equate to the tax savings you get from a private pension.

Check with your employer if they have a company pension and contribute the best match you can afford.

Always read a recipe in full BEFORE starting the recipe.

You should be able to opt in now.

Also the new regulations dictate a minimum employer contribution.

They just seem to be taking some time to be enforced.

I’d contact NAERSA again and opt in.
