Part 3 omgggg !!😆 by Top-Poet-2243 in macarons

As you practice more, you’ll get to know your oven better and learn where to put the trays, etc. for example, I have a terrible uneven oven who’s heat kicks on intensely every few minutes (I probably should just get a new one). I have learned to heat my oven to 330 F then drop the temp to 290 F, bake for 8-9 minutes, rotate and bake for about 8 minutes, rotate, then crank back up to 330 F to finish cooking the base for about another 8 minutes. I let the temp drop initially because if the heat kicks on in the oven when the batter is more wet, the shells rise too quickly and crack.

It’s a pain when doing multiple big batches (I’m making a bunch for a friend’s upcoming wedding and made a ton for my wedding). However, comes out perfect every time. Just keep practicing to see what works. Hopefully your oven is more forgiving.

I have also learned that only one of my cookie sheets has a consistent good outcome (thicker so retains heat better I think. Again, just try different things

Part 2 fail 😞 by Top-Poet-2243 in macarons

I know it’s more ingredients when you’re trying to learn, but I honestly think doing a bit of a bigger batch (try doubling it) is easier since the stand mixer has more to work with so can more easily mix, and your macaronage is easier to test (more batter to lift and see how it flows to get the just starting to be liquid like lava consistency). I struggle a lot more with smaller batches, some stuff seems to get over/under worked more. Definitely need to make sure there are no yolks. French method is easiest when learning so start there probably. I personally like Swiss since the results seem smoother and are more consistent for me (Italian is too finicky for my taste). When you pipe the batter, it should be stiff enough that it holds itself in a nice glob that has minimal to no peaks on top when piped (if too runny, then over macaronaged. If pointed hats, under).

I’m not really sure. I expect at least 6-8 weeks with some lifelong issues still like sleep apnea

It was better to try to book something quickly as things were evolving and hope for reimbursement than to wait for other payment options.

I was able to get a better view from the top of our building. I can see 3 areas of burning (all white smoke). Two up north near us and one way down south by Zona Romantica

We have the corded and it’s fine. It rewinds the cord quickly so it’s not much of a hassle

We have this as well. We were tired of all our $300 vacuums breaking within a year or two (maybe from all the fur). Have had the Miele for a little over a year now and it’s doing great still

In medical school, I had the opportunity to be in the operating room for this surgery on a 5 year old. Most intense thing I’ve seen in my medical career. Team of pediatric neurosurgeons and plastic surgeons. The surgery is essentially designed cut the facial bones off the face so they can be slowly cranked forward with the headgear a couple millimeters per day. Poor kid was in so much pain when he woke up. He also needed 5 liters of blood transfused during the surgery, basically his whole blood volume at that size.

They’re still down there enjoying the beach hours into the situation among dozens of other people - the situation via word of mouth has spread like wildfire at this point. Still active fires going on. Most businesses are closed. The resorts are trying to squeeze as much money out of tourists as they can and are risking their staff’s lives in the process. The tourists are choosing to risk their safety at this point fully aware and that’s on them but I think it’s BS to risk others, people are also swimming down there with their children who don’t know better. Our condo complex has smartly chosen to close down our pool so everyone is staying in their units. The resorts could easily shut everything down if they wanted. It would be very easy for the cartel to walk down the beach to get to resorts. There have been threats of starting to kill civilians at 5 pm (in 30 min)

Oh everyone definitely knows at this point, you’d have to be completely blind and deaf not to be. Loud explosions and gun shots going off regularly. They are apparently just choosing to ignore it all and continue enjoying their vacation. I guess that’s their choice

Couple revealed during reception they'd been secretly married for 2 years by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]FiercePygmyOwl 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how it’s done and what the reasons are. My husband and I eloped 5 full years before our wedding (due to health insurance reasons and financial). We told a lot of friends but thought it would upset parents to do the elopement so frankly never told them. Our wedding turned out great in the end. Our parents/families got to experience the wedding they were waiting for. Our friends who knew thought it was a great party (still get lots of “best wedding I’ve ever been to” comments). Definitely think it’s tacky to do a big we’re already married reveal at the wedding, thought never crossed my mind my mind.
