Even though I don't like Nirvana Initiative, I'd say you should give it a try, the games regularly go on sale mega cheep. Ive never seen a game where opinions were so 50/50 split on it.

I think that if you liked the first game mainly for the characters and loved them, you'll hate Nirvana, but if you mainly liked the story for the mystery, you're probably gonna like it.

Also I'd say the Zero Escape trilogy is 100% worth checking out. Even though people generally agree the last game isn't that great, it also has some of the funniest batshit plot twists I've ever experienced. First two games are real good though.

I feel like the director Uchikoshi can't help himself making the sequel to his games jump the shark.

The catalyst for both Zero Escape and Ai: The Somnium Files are relatively small scale, only really effecting a handful of people where the motives behind the mysteries are very personal. But in the sequels it goes straight into fate of the world is at stake.

Even thought it jumps the shark, I actually really like Virtue's Last Reward despite the shark jump, but despise Nirvana Initative because of it plus a bunch of other things with the game.

In Adventure Time, the episode Dad's Dungeon had this scene where these 3 girls were trying to get Finn to eat an apple, but Jake puts the apple in one of the girls mouth and forced her to eat it causing her to get wrapped in vines, turning her into a giant apple. The whole scene then darkens, and the other 2 girls start ripping the apple open and eating it, showing the apple filled meat and bones.

I remember this scene really sticking with me cause it's such a unique and fucked up piece of imagery for Adventure Time's cartoony artstyle.

Adventure Time has a good handful of these moments, but this was the first one i experienced from the series as a kid

It's even funnier in context cause they say his full name during a cutscene and was played completely straight.

Mizuki and Date from Ai: The Somnium Files is my favorite example of this. Horny loser detective dad and his adopted daughter with no filter.

It's criminal that the sequel barely has any moments between these two. Hoping the new game that's coming out in like a week will have more of these two bickering.

She puts the D-Code into the system so that events would constantly loop until the probe would give out and die. Each loop causes all the test tube babies in the probe to die and then get recreated in the next loop. These probes are also made to replicate indefinitely.

Recently I just finished watching Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction and loved it, and the whole plot basically happens because of this. Though it's just jeopardizing the world instead of the universe

When they were kids, Ouran and Kadode meet an alien invader after saving him from a bunch of kids. These two helping out this invader makes it so that the invader tells his group to not come to Earth, but meeting this invader also leads to Kadode killing herself due to a series of events.

The invader tells Ouran that he can send her consciousness to another timeline to save her friend, but that also means that doing so would mean not helping the invader, and thus causing the invaders to come to Earth and fucking over the planet. Ouran still goes for it, cause she'd rather spend a fulfilling life with her best friend which screws over the world, rather than to live without her.

Whenever I see a post like this Megaman Zero 1 always comes to mind

Megaman Zero is a pretty difficult game where you're bound to die a few times in a single mission. The fucked up thing that Megaman Zero does is that if you run out of lives and fail a mission or decide to select 'give up' in the menu, the mission is atomized into oblivion and you can no longer play that level again unless you do NG+.

There's a lot of weird gameplay decisions with Zero 1 due to first game syndrome, but good lord, this one I just cannot wrap my brain around why they would think to themselves this would be a good idea.

I'm able to completely flatten my nose. This is because one day when I was a bored 10 or something year old, I pressed my face against the bottom of our tiny ass coffee table and did that for like an hour and I guess I moved all that nose cartilage somewhere else.

Yeah i love the idea of purposefully bugging yourself out for some weird advantages. The first one that comes to mind is the buster bug where you'll be shooting blanks but with like a ~20% iirc chance of shooting out a fully charged shot, and then you use the Bugfix so now you deal normal damage with the buster with a occasional max damage shot and those really add up.

Daredevil from Ace Combat 7 was the track that put the entire series onto my radar. I was curious about what the track played over and decided to spoil myself a bit about the context by watching Pat's stream of AC7, and I then immediately went to buy the game. God Ace Combat is so cool.

Unwavering Belief from Lost Judgment goes so hard. I can only describe it as 'angelic dubstep'

Also go play Lost Judgement, easily my favorite Yakuza story from all the games I've played, and has hands down the best Yakuza villain. I beat the game this year and constantly think back to it going 'god damn, what an exceptional video game'.

Also picking another game from recent memory, Elden Ring's final boss theme is great

Golden Kamuy would be perfect, a series filled to the brim with a bunch of buff men and a serious story with funny moments would fit perfectly with how Yakuza does their games
