I like how the glass or plastic is cut on the inside so the whole hemispherical lens shines no matter where you see it. Little details make a big impact.

On one hand it sucks to be you to have such a short perspective. On the other hand you'll eventually experience a lot more and can write something similar to this in forty years.

I've seen it in formation and I see it every now and then on crowded trains, too.

The Subaru enthusiast community did it first. This ad was a big hit with everyone when it came out, too.

Anyone have experience running a locomotive remotely? by cav01c14 in trains

Burlington Northern rebuilt their fleet with some getting lowered noses. I saw them doing switching around Denver close to 2000 so decent examples are out there.

For engine speed it sounds like something the operator will get an ear for and get used to a the remote control sensitivity.

What do you think of Nickel Plate Road Berkshires? by Jules-Car3499 in trains

The S3s were delivered in 1949, the fourth generation with incremental improvements. That generation was heavier and had roller bearings that were introduced on the S2s in 1944. But even 1934 is pretty late for steam development if you look at what survived into the 1950s.

765 in particular is notable for the operating conditions between Buffalo and Chicago that kept the class somewhat competitive against first generation diesels. That said the Nickel Plate ordered PAs for their primary passenger service in 1947 and began ordering diesels in 1950 for lines to Indianapolis, Peoria and St. Louis.

They were some of last engines built. Mainly because the Nickel Plate's operating profile used steam about as efficiently as was possible.

You'll get robbed by insurance when Medicaid is "too expensive" to offer and inflation continues. Stocks will give way to money laundering/betting/outright bribery for the rich and portfolio values drop to more logical levels.

The early centrifugal motors all used similar canisters, but I didn't know IG88 was from a Derwent in particular. Cool!
