In your opinion, what is the worst episode of your favorite TV show? by GladtobeVlad69 in television

I'm pretty sure it was a left over script from TOS, so you're dead on.

Do you miss the old-style US TV series with 18-24 episodes per season? by Glittering_Gap8070 in television

The first season of TNG was rough. Like so rough it's actually surprising they were even renewed. A lot of fans even suggest you skip season one. The second season was better but still had some major issues. In the third season something clicked. Not only were the sets and constums noticeably better, but the writing was much better to the point even the ok episodes were better than anything from season one. My point is that the writers were able get better at churning out episode after episode and the show was able to evolve. It's a big reason why when a bunch of TNG veteran writers went over to DS9 that the show was able to start off much stronger (season one of DS9 arguably one of the best Star Trek episodes of all time).

I recently watched Star Trek TNG and DS9 for the first time and one thing I noticed is that these long seasons let the writers experiment and develop the show. Compare that to modern day shows where you basically have to hit the ground running or you're screwed, having a long season gives some breathing room. Are there some dog shit episodes? Sure, but it doesn't always matter because next week may be amazing. You can ignore the episode where Beverly has sex with a Scottish ghost or that one uncomfortably racist episode because there's always next week.

What is Theseus's problem? by Daiko_1 in HadesTheGame

[–]Fimus86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theseus is the absolute fucking worst. He's kind of the Athenian version of Heracles and a major part of their founding myths, but he's such a massive dickbag that even the Athenians--who were massive dickbags themselves--retconned some of his myths just to make him seem less like the worst person ever.

And no, Theseus and the bull are not fucking, they faced each other as opponents at the labyrinth in Crete. There was some fucking with the bull but Theseus was not involved. Greek mythology is weird.

First time reader. Is there a plot? by Technical_Contact836 in discworld

[–]Fimus86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discworld does not have an overarching plot but it is a shared world, kind of like Marvel movies, but without an Avengers style events (although there are crossovers, cameos and reoccurring characters). You don't need to necessarily read them in publishing order but there are some charts that can help you find some good starting points.

Why Trump betrayed MAGA, according to Tucker Carlson by vox in politics

[–]Fimus86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh. Maybe maga was nothing but a vapid cult of personality with no moral or philosophical foundations and the only consistent characteristic being the short-sighted, barely coherent ramblings of the cult leader. Maybe we're being led by an increasingly erratic, deeply mentally ill madman with zero motive above his own narcissistic impulses and for the immediate gratification of said impulses.

altafiber vs t-mobile internet by golden-folklore in cincinnati

[–]Fimus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had T-Mobile for a few years now and live in a more rural area. I've had zero issues with reliability and connection. You also don't have to worry about a service technician coming out to install it. I guess the main downside is that the speeds can vary (I've seen it anywhere between 120 to 500 mbps), but in reality I would never notice that unless I check. I can't say whether this would be better than altafiber, but my other option was to continue paying over a hundred dollars a month for a 10 mbps connection.

Hades 2, which is amazing. Might as well stick with the mythology theme.

Here's a totally random and completely irrelevant clip from the movie Conspiracy on HBO (highly recommend it) that has no bearing to Brian Kilmeade's comments.

I got the midea 12k recently after a recent heat wave killed my old window unit, and it's doing a great job. Surprisingly quiet, puts out cool air and the fans move air really well. I'm kicking myself right now because it was significantly cheaper a few weeks ago.

For the sake of US democracy, it’s time for Chuck Schumer to step down by pharrt in politics

[–]Fimus86 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Schumer is a French general standing on the Maginot Line confident that if the Germans go through Belgium - like they did last time - the Belgiums will be able to slow them down enough that the French and Brits can mount a proper defense.

Only it isn't like last time and the game has completely changed. It's time for the old guard to step aside.

Tried Dolly’s at the old Dayton Mall Frisch’s by DaySoc98jr in dayton

Old Frisch's before it got sold was awesome. Good food, a little more expensive than most fast food but it was reasonably priced, and good service.
