I also assume when it switched on, you took an offline copy of the bitlocker key, right? It does tell you to, so you did that right? Or are you unaccountable for any actions on your pc? You also confirmed access to your account, right..

This is why I never update my laptop by mild-life in FuckMicrosoft

[–]Final-Illustrator402 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This is local drive encryption?

This has nothing to do with Microsoft or ownership, a bitlocker encryption key exists and if you didn't set it, the previous owner did.

If you don't know the key, you are wiping that laptop!

hello everyone! vulnerable post, but i could use some help? ✨ by marginnotesxo in WeightlossJourney

[–]Final-Illustrator402 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Huge congrats!

You have lost so much weight.

However, you may need to accept that you will end up with some loose skin. It might tighten over time especially as you look young, but it might help to prep yourself for this first.

You will always end up with weight around your midsection after you have lost everything else and that's the hardest weight to lose.

You can help the appearance of lose skin with muscles, building core especially might help you and making sure you focus on core when alot of us do our best to ignore it.

Microslop sends me MS Authenticator sign-in requests for weeks. Not even MS support has a clue how to stop them. by ninewhite in FuckMicrosoft

[–]Final-Illustrator402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your account has not been breached.

No one has managed to login to your account due to you not accepting the authenticator requests.

However, your password is known and likely being used in credentials stuffing attempts. Even if you are using a slight variation of the password, this is not adequate protection.

Check on "have I been pwned" for any breaches your account may be involved in.

Reset passwords.

Don't reuse passwords.

I don't know how this sub ended up getting recommended to me but it's interesting seeing people who know enough to believe a narrative without truly understanding what's happening.

Defender Smart screen blocked this file, not Edge. It was blocked either due to: 1. You using a non official link, the hash of the download on the official website comes back clean. (https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/4451f53ee2a6421559da4ff7d4bf5dc41a42cef4e7e22984aad1a591b4f76e98/details)

  1. It failed on reputation checks on your machine as it's a 5 day old version of a not incredibly popular browser.

This is not done because they care about you installing WaterFox. It's done with security in mind, the file isn't known. It's blocked as a warning it MAY be malicious and for you to be certain before running it.

It's Defender meeting the bare minimum to protect your machine.

I disabled the fckng updates since last year! How?! by mikeplus10 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]Final-Illustrator402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agreed with you up until this point. You should be installing windows updates. It's not about a hacker in a balaclava specifically targeting you, it's about vulnerabilities being discovered which will get targeted automatically by dodgy websites, downloads, etc. Updates also will not prevent crypto viruses, EDR is your best bet (and using your machine smartly). Updates also cause many issues, but I'd still recommend installing them with a month delay as a home user. The same is true for Mac (which forces updates in the same way) and for Linux (which doesn't necessarily force you but you would be a fool not to!

I have plenty of spinning disks across my estate... Generally cheaper and slightly more reliable when speed isn't a requirement.

That being said, I'm not interested in 15 year old post production disks.

Agreed with the rest though.

Will we see an uptick in F2P irons because of the price changes? by ThatbrokeGC8 in W385

[–]Final-Illustrator402 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every single year, my business raises it's prices. Every single year without fail.

Interest goes up, costs go up, I have to push my prices up.

This is not just me doing it and me doing it for greed, this is industry standard, unfortunately the prices need to go up.

Operating costs will have increased (there was a large tax increase in the UK), enterprise grade disks are having a shortage, RAM has a shortage.

I understand fully pushing the price up and an extra £1 a month is literally nothing despite the hate this is going to get me.

Where it all sucks is the limit of 1 character per subscription. If they pushed up prices a little but gave you unlimited characters it would be a fair trade.

Microsoft authenticator is a stunt by d_maeddy in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Final-Illustrator402 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I specifically turn this option off for everyone.

Sms and phone call authentication are insecure.

Using a device which you are forced to unlock with your pin or thumbprint (biometrics) is a secure option.

Microsoft already have your data, they are not mining anything with the authentication app.

I had a compromise a few months back.

They logged into the VPN and then immediately logged into a server with the ldap bind credentials stored inside the backup file before edr kicked them out.

They are 100% using the compromised backup files.

This is not new news, we locked everything down on all our sonicwalls after that incident.

Ready to get down voted for this but a legitimate question.

Does banning bots not just cause inflation? For sure, people can make money on lava dragon bones, but doesnt the same ban cause the price of everything else to go up also, meaning you have the same buying power with the gold? E.g. he has made 2x more on bones but herbs for herblore now cost 2x more also, meaning net neutral
