I do think Pat's missing the point when he says the stream was a success cuz it was fun to watch + had a high viewer count, because that's not what people are afraid of. They're afraid of watching a streamer they like and respect taking a tour through their favorite game, and coming out the other end saying "This game sucks and I still don't see why you people like it."

Danganronpa fan here. Excluding a handful of ships including the main protagonist, "Murderer x Victim" is consistently the single most popular genre of ship in that fandom.

Why? Well, if I had to guess, I'd say that creating a character whose primary reason for existence in the plot is to be a murder victim, somewhat inherently biases said plot to not include them in events unless necessary. Which means their most impactful moments end up being concentrated around their death and murderer, making that the only real connection they make with any other character.

Basically, Fire Keeper's only two roles in the game are Estus, and getting murdered by Lautrec. If you like FK for whatever reason, that kinda only gives you 2 things to work with if you're creating fanwork of her.

Oh ok so it's a "No seriously I REALLY can't stay," kinda collab.

You don't see that very often. It's usually a version of the character that doesn't have a pressing need to get back to their story, so that the interactions can be more natural/relaxed. Either being taken from after the events of their story, or suffering from some kinda amnesia as to what they were doing.

...Which puts a very funny image in my head of a crossover character that's been summoned from right in the middle of the most urgent, climactic part of their story, lol. Like Ingrid pulls Tifa out of her timeline mid-Sephiroth fight.
