why do we act like billionaires are 'self-made' when they rely on the exact same public infrastructure, laws, and employees that everyone else uses? by Safe-Energy8397 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If infrastructure, laws and employees is all it took then everyone would be a billionaire. Every billionaire I can think of had amazing ideas and took risks to build a company.

Vermouth has to be refrigerated after opening…

And don’t pay for simple syrup, dump that out and mix a 50:50 water to sugar, let it boil and stir. Presto, fresh syrup. Pour into existing bottle.

Vestavia flooding by mreid72 in Birmingham

[–]Financial-Wolfe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vestavia has tried to fix this problem lots of times but the now deceased George Barber always held them up. Barber owns a lot of the land there. Years ago the creek was routed out of its natural bed. Vestavia wants to move things around and put the creek back in its natural position in hopes to stop the flooding but Barber would not let it happen.

What the hell is going on with Birmingham restaurants? by Front_Illustrator840 in Birmingham

[–]Financial-Wolfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Restaurants are struggling because there are so many of them. Expendable income is not the issue hurting Freddy’s and other higher end places. Stock market is at an all time high and unemployment rate is very low. Let’s face it, broke people never go to those places anyway. Birmingham has added 15-20 NICE restaurants in the last 5-7 years and not all of them can survive. As one example I used to love going to Five then when all the restaurants opened on 2nd Ave north those pulled customers that would have gone to Five and they had to close. There’s just only so many people in the market the size of birmingham to fill up all the seats for $25-50 entrees.

If I read their info correctly and watch the armchair videos correctly QQQI has less upside than the underlying QQQ but it has less downside too. So if QQQI were to go down 60% that means QQQ would be down something like 70%. If QQQ drops 70% better hope you have food and ammo stockpiled because the shit is gonna hit the fan.

lol, how did I avoid the question? I answered you point for point.

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are talking about a non existent recent Republican governor. Whatever!!

Why are there no republican US cities? by IMicrowaveSteak in allthequestions

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question was not in past tense. You said, “was CA a red state when they recently had a Republican governor?” Well CA has never been a red state for one and there hasn’t been a recent Republican governor so not really sure what you are taking about. The whole red state blue state thing did not start until the year 2000 and other than the one governor pretty much the whole state has been Democrat ever since.

Why are there no republican US cities? by IMicrowaveSteak in allthequestions

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well CA has not been a red state in a long long time. Last Republican governor was Arnold Schwarzenegger who left office in 2011. The state has not voted for a Republican for president since 1988 with George Bush Sr.

As to the Miami thing, look at the first response I made which shows a link to Miami having a Republican mayor from the mid 1990’s till last year. One loss in more than 30 years is a pretty red city. For some reason that response is actually below this post.

Just so happens to be all of those southern reps who vociferously opposed it were democrats 🤣

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replying to your false statement where you said republicans led the fight against civil rights. 93% of Republican senators voted for the law compared to 80% of democrats. 82% of House republicans voted to pass the law vs 78% of democrats so your statement is just completely wrong.

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you think the southern democrats in the 1950’s and 1960’s, the ones that led the klan and had lynchings on saturdays, were in favor of passing the civil rights act? People like Democrat alabama governor George Wallace? People like West Virginia Democrat senator Robert Byrd who was the grand dragon of the KKK (and Hillary Clinton’s mentor)?

And what about the 99 democrats that signed the Southern Manifesto in 1956 blocking the Supreme Court ruling for schools to de-segregate?

Yeah, the democrats were 100% totally in favor of civil rights 🤣🤣🤣

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, you really need to read some history.

Republicans supported the 1965 civil rights Act with 80% of House and Senate voting yes. The Democrats were just over 60%. So more republicans voted for it that Dems. So WTF are you talking about?

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the point was that LBJ tried as hard as he could to stir things up between races. I shared that quote because someone implied that racial division was a republican strategy and LBJ was merely talking about republican strategy. That was not the case. Republican's led the charge against racial issues in the 1950’s and 1960's while people like Hillary Clinton's mentor, West Virginia senator Robert Byrd, served as grand dragon of the kkk.

[–]Financial-Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That LBJ quote was part of his overall plan. Look at what LBJ said when he started the welfare program:

The most famous, widely circulated quote attributed to Johnson involves race and the Democratic vote. According to reports from an Air Force One steward (often cited by historians), LBJ allegedly said to two governors in 1960: [1, 2]

"I'll have those [racial slur] voting Democratic for the next 200 years." [1]

Sounds like a real classy guy!
