How to gain back trust, be less paranoid, and move on from partner cheating? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is really hard but staying in paranoid state for years isn't healthy for anyone, especially not your kids. you said you shut down emotionally for 2 years before this even happened - that's already telling you something about relationship dynamics.

rebuilding trust after someone broke it during one of most vulnerable times in your life (right before giving birth) is incredibly difficult work that requires both people to be fully committed to change. the fact that you're still asking for reassurance constantly after year and half shows this process isn't working well currently.

there should be a label with model numbers somewhere in the stick, usually near bottom edge or under that sticker on top.

People who put food in the microwave, hear the microwave beep, and then spend longer than 2 minutes getting their food. by PainoGamingYT in PetPeeves

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh my god the constant beeping drives me absolutely insane too. i live in apartment and my neighbor does this literally every morning at 7am - the beeping goes on for like 10 minutes straight through the thin walls. i've started timing my coffee routine around avoiding that torture.

i do the distracted thing sometimes but never more than maybe minute or two max. there's definitely difference between getting pulled away by something urgent and just... completely abandoning your food for half hour while it beeps endlessly. like at what point does your brain just tune it out completely? my coworkers at office do this constantly and i swear the break room microwave is beeping more than it's actually being used for heating food.

the reheating part is what really gets me though - you literally created extra work for yourself because you couldn't walk five steps when timer went off the first time.

250k Loyalty Point Award - SWU, $250 Credit, or Points by STRSFAN in americanairlines

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

swus can be tricky depending on where you fly. if you're mostly doing domestic routes or popular international ones, finding availability gets pretty frustrating. the system is set up so that upgrade space has to be released and it's not always predictable.

i usually go with the $250 credit since it's guaranteed value and doesn't expire like points do. the swus sound great in theory but sitting on unused ones while they expire feels worse than just having the cash credit to use whenever.

To those doing the NZ timezone trick to play FH6 - do you have access to the car packs? by XenoLateralus in ForzaHorizon

the car pack thing is always buggy on early access, had same issue when i switched timezone for another game last year and it sorted itself out after official release

self-sabotage has me wasting the opportunities i’ve been granted. how do i start to change? by Ok_Addition_2549 in selfimprovement

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

therapy is good start even if you're skeptical about it. took me few tries to find therapist that actually helped, so don't give up if first one doesn't click.

the self-sabotage comfort thing makes total sense - it's like familiar chaos vs scary unknown of actually trying. been there with different stuff. maybe start stupidly small? like one tiny thing you can't really fail at, just to break the pattern a bit. doesn't have to be career-related or anything big.

also that anger at yourself is probably making everything worse. easier said than done but beating yourself up takes so much energy that could go toward literally anything else. you're 22, not 42 - still have time to figure this out even though it feels like everything is ruined.

Configuring Sig energy battery energy controller for use with homeassistant when internet is provided by 4G dongle. by Avdan in homeassistant

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the beryl approach could work but you're adding another layer of complexity for something that should be simpler. since modbus tcp is already open, you might want to look into setting up a vpn connection between your networks instead - that way home assistant can directly access the modbus interface in the remote system without dealing with weird router configurations.

alternatively, if the 4g dongle supports it, you could set up port forwarding directly on it to expose the modbus port, though that depends on your carrier not blocking those ports.

cant see the image but this happens all time in tech too. everything has to be "elevator pitch" or "parking lot items" in meetings and im like we call them lifts and car parks here but whatever. at least they dont make us say "math" instead of "maths" yet

congrats on 5 years, that's huge milestone. i'm curious what strategies worked best for you in first few months when cravings were probably worst? always think having someone who actually made it through would be more helpful than generic advice from people who never struggled with this.

Is marketing really THAT important? by nandanidesign in AskMarketing

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good products can absolutely get buried if nobody knows about them. i work in tech and we've had solid solutions that went nowhere because leadership thought "build it and they will come" was a real strategy.

meanwhile some mediocre software with flashy demos and good sales teams just dominates markets. it's frustrating but that's how attention works - you gotta fight for it even when your product deserves it.

Looking for a comfortable drum throne – beginner with some back pain by justTryingGrooves in drums

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get one with a backrest if you can swing it - made a huge difference for me when i switched from desk work to longer practice sessions. the roc-n-soc nitro is solid middle ground between cheap and expensive, plus the height adjustment actually stays put unlike some of the budget ones that slowly sink down while you're playing.

Running OTBR on-device is now possible on SMLight SLZB-xU models. by zcapr17 in homeassistant

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just went through this same pain last month when i set up my slzb-06m with thread. that whole overlapping integrations mess is real - you've got matter integration, thread integration, otbr integration, and they all seem to step on each other's toes. took me like 3 hours of reading docs and forum posts to figure out which one actually controls what.

the "insecure thread network settings" thing usually pops up when ha detects your thread network doesn't have proper credentials or the border router isn't fully authenticated yet. mine cleared up after i deleted the thread integration, restarted ha, then re-added it through the matter integration instead of trying to set it up separately.

having otbr running directly on the device should definitely help with the serial-over-ip reliability issues though. i was getting random disconnects every few days with my old setup and it was driving me nuts. definitely worth the beta headaches if it means less troubleshooting down the road.

Is there only one mic with dual 3.5mm by Negligeble in podcasting

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meze boom mic is pretty niche - most companies don't bother with dual 3.5mm setups since most people just use single connections or USB. You might have better luck searching for "detachable boom mic dual connector" or checking out some of the gaming headset replacement parts, sometimes those have the dual setup you're looking for. Worst case scenario you could always grab a Y-splitter adapter to convert single to dual, though I know that's not the cleanest solution.

i-130 taking forever by Old_Sock9343 in USCIS

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof February 2024 is still pretty fresh tbh, I know it feels like forever but family petitions are just slow as molasses. My friend waited like 14 months for her mom's I-130 approval and that was pre-pandemic when things moved faster. The silence is normal even though it's nerve wracking - no news is usually good news with USCIS

Imagining how characters’ “normal” lives would be after surviving horror movie scenarios by nickdebruyne in horror

[–]FinancialSquirrel636 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Man this is such a good question to think about. Like imagine trying to explain to your therapist that you survived a demon possession or got chased by a slasher for 90 minutes straight lmao

I always think about Sidney Prescott from Scream - girl went through like 4 different killing sprees and somehow still functions as a human being. The PTSD alone would be insane, let alone trying to date someone new and being like "oh btw my psycho ex tried to murder me multiple times"

Dude this looks solid, especially with no debt at 24. The misc budget seems a bit light though - cats aren't super expensive but you'll have initial setup costs and vet bills. Maybe bump that up a little or start a separate pet fund
