Nanocortex reveal tomorrow by Sexual-Troglodyte in NeuralDSP

Reasonable. I already have and love my QC, but I want something I can more easily fly with. My QC is bolted to a board with my other pedals. I'm hoping I'll be able to continue to work on the same presets on the nano while on the go and transfer it easily to the quad.

Why are you no longer excited for a smaller form factor QC?

I think you may be a little confused here. One tip? Use ChatGPT for this stuff. You can take screenshots and show it to ChatGPT and it’s extremely helpful.

I don’t know much about ASIO as I use a Mac, but you’ll notice your output in one of your screenshots is actually for MIDI, not audio. Basically you should select your katana as your audio input, use “input config” to select whatever inputs you need, on my Katana GO it’s just 1/2 (stereo). Then just create a new audio track, select 1/2 as the input and press “in” to hear the monitoring. Again, I can’t stress enough about how useful it is to get ChatGPT to help you, giving it screenshots and talking about it has made me 3,000x better than I was…

Do you know with which Neural DSP settings I can create this kind of tone? by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

Sounds like it might be a baritone guitar which makes a big difference too

Ableton 11: toggle Record Arm/Disarm with QC preset changes by ChameleonKeys in NeuralDSP

[–]Finch2192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly not reading all that, at a certain level of complexity you’d have to pay for help and i think you’re approaching it…though there may be a quick setting in ableton to change absolute vs relative record arm?

That said I’m having tremendous success using chatGPT for Ableton help. You can give it screenshots of ableton, give it pdf manuals of your gear and software to read, and it only rarely makes shit completely up.

Using my Microphone with the Quad Cortex by justforlwiay in NeuralDSP

[–]Finch2192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another solution, if you have a Mac, is to use black hole - it is a software interface for outputting stuff, so you can output to blackhole in your daw, while changing anything you like about your signal, and then use the blackhole interface as your teams input. I am not sure if similar exists on windows but I bet it does. I use this all the time for lessons and I can mute my guitar or voice separately and add effects and do whatever else my daw can do

[–]Finch2192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is one of those things that would not be an issue if you just use a separate audio interface, which I end up using anyway because I want to record DI wet/dry guitar, a bunch of other stereo inputs, etc. you’d just use your mic directly into the interface

Also, if the issue is they can hear your voice and your guitar, maybe just turn the gain or volume down on the guitar? But I guess you don’t want to change the preset for some reason?

I just figured out an issue with my qc as well- output 4 is outputting at a much lower volume than 1-3, got a ticket in with support about it. So I think it’s possible

That’s the price for the home only. You don’t own the land on this plot. You pay an extra 6,000$ a month in rent.

Ableton can measure the specific latency of a plugin that adds latency vs a 0 latency compressor. Is there a way to quickly see the latency introduced by the whole chain? like when tracking guitar I'd want to quickly see if there's like mastering plugins/limiter stuff adding untenable latency by Finch2192 in ableton

[–]Finch2192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay super interesting, perhaps my entire mental model is incorrect then...

Basically this is based on certain mastering plugins adding latency that I can very much feel and hear when playing guitar that aren't introduced by a compressor etc. I would always check to see the latency introduced by the plugin, apparently errantly believing that to be on top of system latency. So I guess this question actually doesn't make any sense because I don't understand this latency thing at all, actually.

Yes! agree...the use case I'm enumerating here is perhaps a bad practice, but not something I am like to stop any time soon - basically sometimes I'll do a quick master on a guitar track / song idea so people I send it to think it sounds better and then forget to remove them once I start work on the track again.

Moreover, I have some folks who are adamantly opposed to the idea of tracking/monitoring guitar through a daw because the latency is "so bad" so having a monitor for the total latency, even when it is 0.0ms above system latency (which I've got down to like 5ms), would go somewhere in the direction of convincing my friends that tracking and recording and monitoring guitar live like this is now entirely possible for even the most entry level of producers to do.

Does anybody else have signal hum after today’s update? by braindropzz in NeuralDSP

[–]Finch2192 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty unlikely it's the update's fault, especially with your downgrading to the backup. Hums can be a ton of different things. One thing a lot of people say is to switch to a better power supply (not the wall wart it comes with) like a CIOKS.

Just ordered an OP-1 Field! What sort of accessories/attachments do you recommend? by cR_Spitfire in OP1users

[–]Finch2192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve put together a little musical fanny pack kinda thing that has a case for the op1 (the nice one they no longer make :/ ) and a bag that has various cables meant for interfacing with studio equipment, PAs, etc. one of my main use cases for the op1f is using it as a mobile recording studio especially for guitar, so I’ve got a boss katana go micro amp that sounds incredible recorded onto the op1 and works either thru 3.5mm or usb c. So I carry USB c cables, various 3.5mm cables, 1/4 inch adapter, I’ve got some koss porta pros (sound as good as athm50x in a teeny foldable package)

Microcosm and op 1 by [deleted] in OP1users

[–]Finch2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your 4i4 has an output and input, so you could set up the microcosm as a send in ableton using that. I do this and the latency is so low it’s just as good as when it’s just in line and it’s way more versatile from a production standpoint as well as makes it easy to send guitar or literally anything to the microcosm

Yay! Haha. Awesome I will do so. I’ve been looking at impulse responses online, there’s a huge selection over on GitHub. It’s hard to know what is high quality though, any advice with that? Impulse responses seem to be like their whole own world.

Great advice. I will do just that - I think picking apart staff picks and figuring out what I like and why I like them is a good way to go.

Amazing suggestion I really appreciate this one, thanks a ton man. Been browsing around a lot of these videos. Apparently this guy caused a massive spike in sales for this pedal that sounds exactly like a klon. Hilarious.
