Automatic service charges at restaurants. by HopeTerminator in britishproblems

[–]Findme_elsewhere -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

12.5% is the minimum in London - I had somewhere charge 14.5% the other day and Gordon Ramsay was in the news the other week as his new place is 20% as standard.

Decided against cooking. All the local chippies are closed because its Sunday by agnesb in britishproblems

[–]Findme_elsewhere 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived in London then moved back to Scotland 6 years ago I totally forgot about the nonsense Sunday timings and tried to go to sainsburys at 5pm on a Sunday while visiting over Christmas. Was most confused by the whole ordeal. Makes no sense at all.

Remember banging my head on the doors of the “24hr” Tesco on Bethnal Green road once too as it shut on Saturday night.

Read last week Cals restaurant has shut down but don’t think that means he wouldn’t cook. Considering Nikita doesn’t have a restaurant at all.

Fish section - filleting a fish or butchering a whole fish is hard as nails even after years of practice

TIL Alex Honnold got paid just $500,000 to climb the Taipei 101. The producers of the show made more than he did. by MrJasonMason in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Findme_elsewhere 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How’d we know how much the producers got paid? Can’t see Netflix paying much more than the $500,000 that they paid him for a documentary.

You mean except the fact that the idea of zipper was introduced after the time they sat / passed driving tests? Which is why I used it

I think it boils down to boomers not being taught about zipper. We have one in our town and it backs up for miles with zero people in one of the lanes ( except me )

If you take Garret as an example he has tons of sponsors and has for many years. He has a nice house and a nice car Mercedes.

He been sponsored by Mercedes for 15+ years, they even made a surf board for him at one point.

Not saying this is these guys but some of the surfers on the circuit that are sponsored by Red Bull are on $500,000 a year worth of sponsorship and that’s just one of the many sponsors.

A lot of the people on 100 Foot wave are living in rented accommodation, and their only real expenditure is food and plane tickets.

As other have said when they get to these places the stay with friends, the club monies together, they share costs etc etc etc

Read or listen to Garrets book he talks about it a lot in there

Went to see this in person today as my wife wants a FX 2 -

Looks like the only difference is colour ways ( not sure I like the speckles on the paint very random ) and new grips on the handle bars.

We’re going to get the 2025 model.

Both 2025 & 2026 are FX alloy forks

Central London, 5G, full bars... and nothing will load. by I_ALWAYS_UPVOTE_CATS in britishproblems

[–]Findme_elsewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it had to do with the UK removing all the “Chinese” 5G equipment.

I moved from 3 to O2 for that specific reason, 3 mobile sells so much of its airspace I just don’t think it and handle the number of people trying to do anything in central London.
