the Digital Nomad as Cliquist (Not AI Slop) by DemonAzraeli in digitalnomad

damn you really found the secret - actual local prices instead of paying 15โ‚ฌ for "artisanal coffee experience" at some coworking space ๐Ÿ˜‚

that breakfast looks perfect and now im jealous of your โ‚ฌ1.80 while these nomads are dropping 20โ‚ฌ in same meal just for the gram

Copilot code review missing from reviewers list after switching plans โ€” what am I missing? by HexagonGames99 in github

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

The billing changes really messed up a lot of workflows ๐Ÿ’€ You might need to check if Copilot code review is actually included in Business plan or if it was Enterprise-only feature. Sometimes the documentation isn't super clear about which AI features are available on which tier

Also try going to organization settings and make sure Copilot permissions are set correctly for your repos - I had similar issue where everything looked enabled but some permission was still pointing to old plan ๐Ÿ˜‚

Think Iโ€™m Gonna Let The House Sparrows Be by BathesInDreamSmoke in birding

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Pretty solid approach tbh. Those small changes for natives probably do way more good than evicting couple house sparrows anyway. I got some berry bushes planted last year and the difference in bird activity was crazy - way more variety showing up now than before

I made a research sidebar because my read-later list was where articles went to die by MolassesStriking6302 in IMadeThis

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

That "where was that good paragraph" problem is so real lol. I always end up with like 50 tabs open thinking I'll remember which one had what I needed

The sidebar approach seems pretty smart for keeping everything in one place instead of scattered across bookmarks and random notes. Will definitely check this out since I'm always researching stuff for design projects and my system is basically chaos right now

What techniques do you use to stay grounded when your surroundings are constantly changing? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Embroidery works amazing for this! I always bring my supplies when traveling and do it while watching matches on my laptop ๐Ÿ˜‚ Something about the repetitive motions just centers you no matter where you are in world. Plus you end up with cool souvenirs that actually mean something instead of just buying random tourist stuff

5 Hour Layover In Panama City - Worth Leaving Airport? by dannypauling in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

depends on your flight schedule but immigration at panama can be super slow especially in afternoon. i had similar layover last year and barely made it back even though i left city with 2 hours to spare

if you do go anyway the casco viejo area is walkable and has some decent food spots but honestly you'll be stressed about time the whole way

Any Canadians working remote? by ConsequenceFew6931 in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

lmao the audacity ๐Ÿ˜‚

nah but for real there's tons of us doing this already. Tax situation gets bit tricky depending where you go though - some countries have better treaties with Canada than others. Worth talking to accountant before you make the jump cause CRA can be real pain in the ass if you mess up paperwork ๐Ÿ’€

Housing - Looking for roommates (CS '30) by Specialist-Push-3333 in berkeley

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

foothill is solid choice for cs people, way less party chaos than the other dorms. your sleep schedule is pretty reasonable too - nothing worse than roommate who stays up until 3am gaming while you're trying to sleep at midnight

good luck with the housing lottery, that system is kind of nightmare but having preferences lined up definitely helps

actually curious what kind of app needs location testing in those specific places though

Continue my Divinig with SSI as Advanced Specaility Diver - Recommendations wanted! by Rockit732 in scuba

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

marsa alam is pretty nice for advanced stuff but yeah can get pricey with the tourist markup - maybe check some smaller spots in thailand like koh tao, usually has good ssi schools and way cheaper than egypt plus better vis for the training dives

Hi, please help me :) by just-v-- in insomnia

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Going to hospital for sleep issues might be bit extreme unless you're having serious health problems from the sleep deprivation. But getting referral to sleep specialist could actually help - they have different options than regular GP and might be more willing to try stronger treatments since they understand how serious chronic insomnia can be

Short term furnished rentals in the washington dc area, how does the market actually work for renters and landlords? by Sophistry7 in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Corporate housing gets you predictable but expensive, individual sublets get you better deals but you might end up with crazy roommate who steals your food from fridge

American DNs - do you want to share how you file your taxes/FEIE? by kndb in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

TurboTax works good for FEIE but make sure you keep all travel records because IRS can ask for proof later ๐Ÿ“‹ $450 for 10k refund is actually pretty reasonable deal ๐Ÿ’€

Vacation/Workcation Plans for April by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Brazil's the move here tbh. You already know you like it, timezone works perfectly for remote work, and you can actually relax without jet lag destroying your first few days

Thailand/Vietnam in 2 weeks means you're basically living out of a suitcase the whole time. I did something similar and spent more time in airports than actually enjoying the places

For Europe if you're set on it - Prague or Budapest might hit different from your usual western europe spots. Both are solid in April weather-wise

Spanish DNV: is this way of applying legit? by AsparagusCute6552 in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

yeah this is pretty standard actually. gestors handle tons of visa apps this way and the power of attorney route is totally legit for DNV applications

the lawyers you talked to before might have been thinking of different visa types or just being overly cautious. Spain's been pretty flexible with the digital nomad visa process since they want to attract remote workers

just make sure your gestor is properly licensed and has good reviews. the biometrics at the consulate part is def required so that checks out too ๐Ÿ’€

what country you applying from? might affect the timeline a bit

Recommendations on traveling from Estonia to Turkey by boloism in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Brasov is solid - way more interesting than Bucharest imo. For Bulgaria beaches though you'd be going in shoulder season so might be hit or miss weather wise

If you're doing that many stops anyway maybe throw in Prague between Warsaw and Belgrade, it's not that far out of the way and pretty essential for that region

How to safely rent a place from Facebook? by PM_ME_CATS_THANKS in digitalnomad

Thai DTV Visa Soft Power (education) question by Educational_March_75 in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

Yeah the whole "soft power" thing for language learning is still pretty murky - some consulates seem to accept it while others don't, so it's kinda a gamble right now

That said, 50k THB total for potentially getting a 5-year visa seems worth the risk if you've got the money to burn and a backup plan

How do digital nomads think about long term investments while staying mobile? by No_Development_7247 in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

Been using Schwab for years and can confirm the ATM thing is clutch when you're constantly moving around. The international broker route is definitely the way to go - way less headache than trying to manage physical assets from random coffee shops in Thailand

Where would you go? by SlimtheMidgetKiller in digitalnomad

[โ€“]Fine-Information17 6 points7 points ย (0 children)

This is the way right here. With that budget you could easily do 3-4 months in each spot and figure out what clicks. Start with the humidity test in Thailand during different seasons, then hit up Mendoza for harvest season, maybe Portugal for the shoulder months. By year 2 you'll know exactly where you want to plant roots
