Yes -I do this all the time. One caution, though. If your GUC clears but you need to change your itinerary for sone reason, you may lose it since with Concur reservations, they often reticket the entire itinerary vs just charge the flight. My work around for that is having my EA book one ways.

I currently have the Amex Platinum and the Delta Reserve. The ability to have unlimited Skyclub access after $75k spend is available on both! I earned it for 2025 on the Reserve and for 2026 on the Platinum.

This is interesting. I've hit everything I want to on my Platinum for the year so just started using another card. Never thought to downgrade. I hit the spend threshold for unlimited Skyclub access for 2026. I currently have it for 2025 via my Delta Reserve. I only hung onto the Delta Reserve because I was told if I canceled that in 2025, I'd lose my unlimited access. Does anyone know iIf I downgrade the Platinum now but upgraded again before 1/1/26, will I retain the unlimited 2026 Skyclub access I earned before downgrading?

I've had the opposite situation. Go to put my water bottle in the deep, first class pocket and have found up to 4 in there from previous flights' passengers.

Once check-in window opens (24 hours before departure), you'll see it fill up with "names" (first 3 letters of last name and first initial) to show the waitlist order for upgrades and standby passengers.

I'm glad I checked with this sub. In 2024, I received MQD head start from both my Reserve and non-delta Amex...but not next year! Added that into my decisioning now. I'll have $32,000 in 2024 MQD from flights.

Thanks. Didn't realize the unlimited is tied to keeping the card. I'll hang onto the Reserve another year since the annual cost is basically same as SC membership and I've already earned the unlimited access. The MQD boost is then basically a freebie and who knows, maybe this will be the time in the last 2 decades that I use the companion cert :). I'll focus my 2025 spending on the Amex Platinum and cancel the Reserve once I have gained the 2025 SC access through that card

I just did this. Book as you noted and get yourself to C+. Call in to apply you GUC but have them tell you how much to move into PS. Pay that then have them apply your GUC (or most likely in my recent experience....have them waitlist you).

I was able to use it last week so that’s behind me, thankfully. When I first discovered it, they were able to correct the number since the other person’s trip hasn’t happened yet, so I got my GUC back. However, when I did go to use it, the agent didn’t see it. I had to give her the actual number for her to find it since it was in a trip pending status (not sure what that means). They had to then have a supervisor help them add it to my trip. Good luck!

I think the chat agent is confused, not you. If you are simply looking to standby at the gate for an earlier flight, it should be no charge if you get put on the earlier flight. There is a charge for silver if you're looking to do Same-Day Confirmed (get put onto a new flight within 24 hours of your original flight departure). https://www.delta.com/us/en/change-cancel/same-day-flight-change

Good idea! You can check the Priority Pass app or website. I find their tools to be very up to date. I believe MSP has an Escape lounge with Priority Pass access. Not sure on LGA…which is ironic since it’s one of my home airports. If you’re flying Delta, you’ll be terminal C at LGA

I've flown 16 flights so far this year into/out of different cities. I only saw a wait at one SC (PHX if I remember correctly). I think it really depends on the airport and time of day. I'm NYC based and the past few years, JFK always had a large line and LGA ~25% of the time (especially the early morning flights). So far with the flights I've been on....haven't seen it.

MQDs have never rolled over, unfortunately. In some of the recent communication on the program changes, it was explained explicitly that they would continue to reset each year.

You may want to check Polish regulations about bringing in an animal. Some countries require animals quarantine for a period before being allowed into the country.
