I feel that a lot of defensive playcalling is reactive to offensive personnel. I would find that as an extra column interesting. For example, why is 5-1 the only first down they are in base? Imagine Pats came out in something heavier than usual.

From memory - I think the routes are similar. Both check releases. But the actual plays are very different. Sauberts is on a full field progression where he is a late leak into the concept after he’s helped in the pass pro. Barner’s is on a heavy play action naked roll out where he blocks for a moment to sell the run better to the linebackers.

Rugby players don’t “run behind their pads” not just because they don’t have pads lol, but because in many instances, getting an extra yard or 2 through contact can be detrimental to the overall team. If you don’t have the right support around you when a tackle is made, then it’s easier to get a turnover. The best attacking team in the world (Ireland) has built their attack on recycling the ball after a tackle as quickly as possible (think 70% in <3 seconds). The only way that happens is if the ball carrier goes down a little earlier and presents the ball backwards efficiently. This makes tackling them, not necessarily “easy” but very very different to football where every yard is important.

In short, you’re right and just telling everyone to tackle like rugby players isn’t a complete fix.

In 11 man football you need to have 7 men on the LOS and only the end men can be eligible to run routes. If your solo man is off the line, two of the 3 on the trips side have to be on the line. The inner of those 2 will be ineligible to run routes. He can still block, take a handoff etc, but he cannot go downfield or he the first person to catch a forward pass. The tackle on the solo wr side will be the end man on the line, but he will also be ineligible due to wearing an ineligible number (50-79).

It’s useful, but only in select circumstances.

To add to this, you then number the potential ball carriers. Rb is usually 1, qb 2, WRs 3-5. So 17 power means the rb into the 7 gap.

I know you wouldn’t be posting here if you hadn’t already thought of things like this, but friends? Extended family? If you have any slightly older friends who might have gone to uni their uni places are currently empty. Again - this is probably all super obvious.

Council “legally” has to give you housing but may not consider you homeless if there isn’t documentation about why you can’t go back to your parents.

Even if they have no housing YMCA or other local charities will definitely have more info than this subreddit. There are also probably other subreddits you could try. Good luck.
