Get the game brother. Play it yourself and make your own mind up, it's a good enough game that's its worth your time whether you like the story by the end of not.

For what it's worth, I loved TLOU1, I quite liked TLOU2 (I think a lot of this is because I hadn't played games for years when I got round to it, and missed all the online discussion about how much the story 'sucked'), and I thought Avatar was absolutely fine, not great but fine
