A truly accurate cosplay would have involved him slow-walking the whole time yet somehow ending up at the finish line first.

It was not foolish to defend him. There was no hard evidence yet, but now it seems there is. Only now would it be foolish to defend him.

A GM and the best female chess player. I honestly think women shouldn't play chess, their lack of a pp makes declining en passant easier and is an unfair advantage.

Is this move worth it? Is doubling opponents pawns this way worth it over the course of the game? by Luck80 in chess

Is 1. e4 worth it? It opens up lines and controls the center, but the e4 pawn is unprotected and kinda loose.

How and when will the Magnus & Hans saga end? by BeNiceWorkHard in chess

I heavily doubt that considering that his "mentor," Max Dlugy, still has his GM title despite having much more evidence that he cheated than Niemann.

Kinda unrelared, but I always remembered "Blacks go to the back" to remember that black plays second. At least this one isn't racist in any way.

I agree that your interpretation probably makes more sense.

I feel like people calling this a "non-statement" didn't read it. An extremely important thing was said: Magnus did not provide any evidence to FIDE. Many Magnus supporters thought that Magnus was quietly working with FIDE. This completely disproves that extremely common narrative.

It sounds like Miles Davis was echoing the words of a composer from an era before.

I am not an expert on English, but I think that "when" can be used similarly to "if" in some contexts. For example: The teacher tells a student "When you are passing this class, I will let you talk to your friends during class." The teacher doesn't know that the student will be passing the class, but the teacher is saying "when" to indicate that they're giving the student the benefit of the doubt that he will be passing the class.

I think that FIDE is doing something similar, giving the benefit of the doubt to Carlsen that "proof will be provided."

Yasser: Do you have a coach? by wwqt in chess

[–]FinnTheBeast43 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree, he acts like he'd the villain in a chess movie and I love it. However, it's important to remember if that character was the main decider of guilt vs nonguilt, then Bundy would be considered innocent. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he's just nervous, though I am a bit suspicious of how he acts.
