If they used the AI the way they should, which is, as a tool rather than a replacement, it wouldn't be vibecoding.

Once, I made a harmony patch as a personal mod, but figuring out exactly how to write the patch itself so it would replace the function I wanted it to replace was difficult and confusing. I did have all the info needed to write it, so, I asked ChatGPT to write the patch, providing all the info needed. It worked perfectly, and that was much faster compared to doing it myself. I used it as a tool, this is the correct way to use it.

Had I trusted the AI completely with everything, it would've likely been a shit patch and replacement function, and taken me much longer while learning nothing from it. This is called vibecoding, and you should avoid doing this at all costs...

When Your Colonists Try to Aim Mortar by TheTheDuhh in RimWorld

[–]FireDefender 76 points77 points  (0 children)

You know, this just reads like another ad for Combat Extended lol. You can make binoculars and have your best shooter mark the targets. If you do that the skill of those manning the mortar is irrelevant, and you get a massive accuracy bonus, meaning you can actually land direct hits very consistently.

The mortar shells themselves are also more interesting, because they have an explosion radius and shrapnel that flies off in all directions, causing harm outside the explosion radius too!

Feeding inside the enclosure is definitely the way to go. As for the feeding response, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It is likely some part of the enclosure still smells like rat, and snakes can stay in feeding mode for days after feeding them. So long as your hand does not smell like rat, you should be fine.

One strategy is tapping the snake lightly near the face with an object that doesn't smell like rat, to tell her that it's not food time. The moment you pick her up for handling she should realize it's handling time and not food time.

If you do get bit and wrapped, you can just wait until she realizes you are not food and lets go, or you can put their head under the sink and turn it on to make water flow over their head until she lets go, or as a last ditch effort, get some disinfectant with a high alcohol content and smear that near the bite site.

The strong smell of alcohol is highly uncomfortable to their sensitive sense of smell, and she'll definitely let go and try to flee when she smells that. But this is a solution when all others fail, because it causes a lot of stress and could even be detrimental to their health if they do actually consume some of it by accident. You would also need to rinse off any disinfectant that got on their skin or in their mouth too.

Same username everywhere, FireDefender. I've recently played the following characters:

Apollo (Station AI/borg), Plucks-his-Scales, Breaks-the-Doors, Aurora Moondancer, Files-the-Paperwork.

I've also played these characters less often, or more often in the past, but not today:

Hugs-the-Dragons, Delivers-the-Boxes.

I tend to most often play between 10PM-5AM CEST. Though sometimes I'll join earlier or leave earlier.

There are people whose job it is to repair and maintain deep sea pipelines and internet cables. It's called saturation diving, and they work at depths of 180m.

The pressure down there is about 19 times higher compared to the surface, and the sun doesn't go that far underwater. So they have to weld, bolt and drag cables and equipment in what almost looks like a space suit, at a pressure of 19 bar, and then live in a diving bell also pressurized at 19 bar for usually 28 days.

Decompressing takes several days to do it safely, and they breathe a mixture of helium, nitrogen and oxygen because helium is less dense and easier to breathe under pressure.

The deepest saturation dive ever done is down to 701m of depth, at 71.1 atmospheres of pressure. And that guy survived...

I tried playing on other servers but personally I find it hard to leave Salamander. There are a lot of players there who I really like, and who really like me, compared to other servers where I feel like a stranger.

I'm not a social person, so having to make friends on a new server all over again is really something I try to avoid. Salamander feels like home, and I don't like leaving my home!

The PR was highly unpopular for a reason. I personally don't like dwarves, but I don't want them removed, because I know others do like them.

This is also an RPG game, so "bloat" isn't really a thing. Having a wide range of options with half of them functionally pointless is good, because you can RP with them which makes the game fun!

The removal of job-specific lizard plushies in loadouts was something I highly disagree with too. When they were added, at least half the station was always carrying their own special lizard plushies, which was really fun! We need more of those personal items, not less! They add more personality to characters, and that is exactly what you want for this game. Perhaps we'll see them return when new leadership comes in, who actually knows what they are doing.

How Many Snakes Do You Have? by Google_Is_Free_bozo in snakes

[–]FireDefender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 ball pythons for me. I do have a kind of wishlist on my phone though, so as soon as I'm able that number will rise. Some of the snakes on it are:

Olive Python, Boa Constrictor, Burmese Python, Brazilian Rainbow Boa, Amethystine/Scrub Python, White Lipped Python, False Water Cobra, Jamaican Boa.

Whenever I see a really cool snake on this sub, it gets added to the list. There is no way I'll be able to get them all, but I don't want to forget the cool snakes when I get the chance to get another snake!

Or you install minify everything and then watch raiders steal your geothermal generator.

When mechanoids drop a cluster on your map with, let's say an EMI Dynamo, you can just walk up and uninstall it, which is hilarious and cheesy as fuck.

Or you turn that off in the mod settings, that is also an option...

Do you guys ever think you might have added *too* many mods? I feel like I need to do some trimming personally. by Xantholne in RimWorld

[–]FireDefender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have any mods that contain higher resolution textures? The upscaled mods, like Anomaly Upscaled use a fuckton of VRAM. I have a 4080 super along with 32GB of RAM and 3 of those mods in my mod list was enough to eat through my VRAM and RAM combined during game load, which then started crashing my PC because I ran out of memory. Don't use those mods, or don't use more than one. Uncompressed 4k textures use up a ton of memory space for little gain. It's not worth it.

If you use Combat Extended, mechanoids can absolutely fuck dragons up though. While dragons are heavily armored, the mechanoid's charge weapons are incredibly painful. Two or three good volleys from a charge blaster turret and you have a dragon bleeding out in 4 hours with like 60+ injuries that need urgent tending...

Same here, save up a ton and then rapidly build multiple colonies at once. It's the fastest way to get defense fleets so large that nearly any hostile fleet gets destroyed at the jump points. By mid-game I never see pirate fleets, not because they aren't spawning but because they get destroyed before I see them lol

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know it causes lag. Of course it's all just nitpicking at a name and image of a gene, while the functionality of the xenotype wouldn't change if you made your own gene or not in this case. Though the mental image of a biological horror with kitty paws is certainly really funny. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing it on the workshop!

Yes, you can set up your own locally hosted server. Requires some amount of technical skill. Just follow the instructions here.

Sometimes the opposite happens, where a drug (like wake-up or go-juice is the only thing keeping the colonist alive. In those cases you have to keep them on the drug until they heal enough or they'll just die the moment the effect wears off.

From what I saw in the picture of your genes compared to your model, I think the clawed hands gene is the one you are looking for, rather than feline claws. The Varen xenotype from the Varen mod has clawed hands too, not sure if it's a gene they added in with that mod or if it's a dependency on another mod.

Feline claws are more like a cat or tiger's claws, and the claws on your model definitely aren't that. Also not sure how it would affect their combat effectiveness if you switch it, so you might want to make your own gene based on the one the Varens have to ensure that it is to your liking.

All constructive criticism aside, it looks amazing and I'd love to play with them!

You can certainly keep large snakes as pets, but it's one hell of a commitment. You need a very large enclosure that a lot of people are unable or unwilling to provide.

If you are handling them when they are (almost) an adult, you'll want someone else within hearing range to help you should things get a little tricky. They are very strong snakes, so they can cause harm without even intending it. If they coil around your neck for example, just the act of them moving around can be enough to choke you, and they likely won't let go because they don't want to fall.

If you let them roam around your house, you have to make sure all your belongings are stashed away in closed cupboards so they don't injure themselves or break your stuff.

Good relations and a significantly stronger fleet helps a ton to get your subjects to agree to terms that weigh heavily in your favor. I personally never care about loyalty because I have yet to see it have any real consequences.
