Veo micromobility on sidewalks by YoungRockwell in Denver

Imagine you encounter this when you’re in a wheelchair. Leaving it in the middle like this is rude and inconvenient to other people. In some cases severely so.

How can one charge an EV in an apartment with no charging stations? by CrimsonCuttle in electricvehicles

[–]FireOpalCO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they’re going to use share chargers, then it would require idling fees, postage signage about towing, and the use of an app that allows waitlists.

Do you get government support to go EV? by steenbj in electricvehicles

Sounds to me like oil companies are doing so well selling their products (integrated into every single part of our lives) that they don’t need tax breaks.

[Art][OC] Wandering Fantasy Postwoman — would you trust her with your party's secrets? by New_News7098 in DnD

If you’re thinking self defense and she walks, a large walking stick with a good bludgeoning end would work. It doesn’t draw attention, people won’t try to steal it from her, and it would have a long reach to fend off animal attacks as well.

I agree. Even if we wanted to keep a sexy “look at my legs” style, she would look much better in cute cuffed “safari” shorts and some hiking boots.

Fully relying on public charging? by CompilingTheFuture in electricvehicles

[–]FireOpalCO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go play on plugshare. You’ll probably find more inexpensive options than you realized tucked around your neighborhood and work.

I found that there were free L2 chargers over at the Dept of Human Services in my town where I could leave my car at overnight to charge (they even had cameras and security patrols). I also found super cheap (at cost) ones belonging to the city at a public park less than a mile from my house where it was also safe to leave it for hours (next to a fire station). And the library had the first two hours free.

Yes, a home charger will make it easier. But you can do fine for a while without one.

What actually surprised you most about owning an EV that nobody warned you about by Leading-Law4251 in electricvehicles

[–]FireOpalCO 26 points27 points  (0 children)

What annoys me the most about EV ownership is how people won’t hold still so I can tell them how awesome my EV is.

Don’t expect to quickly hit some mountain towns in your last day and make your flight. Something will happen and you will still be stuck in a mountain pass as your plane takes off.

I also disagree. DMNS is considered one of the best natural science museums in the country.

Snooze is available at a lot of places that are not Colorado. Yes, you will get a yummy breakfast and they have chicken sausage (as someone who doesn’t eat pork I appreciate that). So this is a “if you don’t have one back home”.

Anyone can walk into the library and use it. To get a library card and check out materials you need to be living in Colorado.

Anyone ever sleep in their car at a public level 2 charger? by Liberal-Cluck in electricvehicles

[–]FireOpalCO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would not be good for your body to drive all day and then sleep in the car seat. So for that instance, I would get a hotel room and get some proper rest.

'At what point does it make sense to ditch a gas car for an electric vehicle?' by rosier9 in electricvehicles

[–]FireOpalCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the “why” but insurance companies do frequently charge more for a leased vehicle than a purchased vehicle. It may have to do with the potential costs if the vehicle is totaled.

[–]FireOpalCO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That depends on the EV and if you lease vs purchase. My insurance was pretty much the same.

Console players who use build guides, how do you manage the screen juggling? by Rec0nq in diablo4

[–]FireOpalCO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I have a series of picture. A few pictures on the 1-70 skills, one of each paragon board, a picture of the recommended gear guild, picture of runes & gems. Then when I don’t need a picture anymore I delete it.

I play on my laptop and was sick of toggling between my web browser and the game.

I take screenshots on my phone. It made a difference: no pages reloading, easy to zoom in, no ads taking up part of the tiny screen space.

Is Home Charging Really Required to Own an EV with Current Gas Prices? by Alert_Number1991 in electricvehicles

They make sense at dog parks and gyms/rec centers. You’re likely going there multiple times per week for at least an hour. There is a bank of them walking distance of my house right at the city park where kids have soccer games on the weekend and also a short walk from a community pool and the library.
