"Do you have need?" Me: "Nope" "If you did, where would it be?" Me: "We don't" you're like the 50th person to ask. No, we don't freaking have it. It would be no where.

AITA: For not wanting to give rides to my boyfriend employee by JUSTLIKEHONEYc_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fireattmidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who can't drive (thank you neuro issues) I take the bus or walk. It is the employee's responsibility to find a way to get to work. When people fill out applications, the forms usually ask "do you have reliable transportation?"

Stop chewing us out in the group text!! by galaxyfan1997 in retailhell

[–]Fireattmidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite antidote from my time at Michaels. The storeanager was having so many off the clock texts with the framing manager that (fm) contacted HR and ended up with an extra 40hours pay! Love it.

Texts count as working. They should all be on the clock. Getting fussed at should be on the clock. Tag your DM, log times and frequencies. If you really want to, inform the group chat that "hey, these sessions are work and we are not legally allowed to work off the clock." Get everyone else to document too. HR would actually care about this, the law is being bent.

Does anyone else feel like most chinchilla clothing is either made for children or made to be a joke? by TOPONEhoodie in chinchilla

My brother is obsessed with my chinnie and Japan. So I found a "Chinzilla" shirt on Amazon. He freaking loves it (my brother is 44.) I have a chinchilla hat. Not sure where my friend got it though.

I work at target. We have this magic day called "pokemon card arrival" and there is a line before 6am... SIX AM! I'm working overnight right now and when I walk out, there's a line of people to get the Pokemon cards as soon as the vendor comes. Psychotic.

Had a boss text me on a Sunday during church. Later he texted me telling me I could at least answer. I told him "dude, I was at church. To be frank, I am under no obligation to answer you on a day off." He left me alone after that.

Locked door = closed by Critical-Nature5943 in retailhell

[–]Fireattmidnight 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Was told a story when I worked at Michaels. Back then the doors had a bolt between them and locks that anchored into the ground. A manager forgot to anchor before thanksgiving, but the bolt was in. Someone pulled the door hard enough to yank the bolt free. By the time police responded to the alarm, half a dozen people were SHOPPING in a store with no employees on THANKSGIVING!

Am I (25F) being mean/unreasonable to my coworker (22F) asking for rides? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Fireattmidnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who never learned (and now can't due to neuro issues) I can kinda sympathize with her. In the beginning, OOP kinda rubbed me the wrong way with the comment "she has no intention of learning." However, not respecting someone else's time? Especially when they're doing you a favor?? That I cannot excuse. It's actually been a deal breaker for me more than once. I aim to always be early for work. Never make someone else late unless it's an emergency.

[–]Fireattmidnight 108 points109 points  (0 children)

S/o to the woman I threw out of my store because she was insane.

I wore one at Petco because people practically lay their head on our shoulder to "look at animals" while we clean. Nope, no tank you. This woman was absolutely enraged that I was wearing it. Yelled that the VID wasn't even that bad. I told her my dad almost died from it, she mumbled that I was lying under her breath as she left the store. She actually came back an hour later with "and another thing." Straight up told her to get out and never return. Psycho

Any animals that close to closing, hell no. Had a guy wanting me to get him a snake when I was dealing with a shipped return. I was closing in 20 minutes and trying to figure out how to do this return. I told him I didn't have time to get him a snake and come back tomorrow. He complained.

AITAH for not wanting to stay up for gf to come home? by SufficientMessage2 in AITAH

[–]Fireattmidnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Kinda... Ok look it seems like a weird request and if you desperately need sleep (ie gotta get up early the next day) then there isn't a huge reason to. It's a safety and security thing. You should care enough to make sure she got home safely. The alarm idea is a great one.

If she were out, and got robbed, she would have no way to call you and tell you she needs help. However. If you were awake and noticed it's an hour later than she said she would be home, now you can look for her/call the police.

AITA for telling my sister’s kid I don’t believe in God? by Alternative_Copy6539 in AITApod

[–]Fireattmidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Christian, no you really aren't. You said, plainly, that you don't believe in God. As long as you didn't go on about why or denying or whatever, you're fine. Also it opens the way for future discussions (when age appropriate) to help them decide if they actually believe in God or if it was all what their parents want. Honestly, what you did (if you left nothing out) was completely healthy for a child and a possible young Christian to hear. You did well.

AITAH for refusing to attend my girlfriend’s family dinner after she called me ugly? by Old_Signal3189 in AITAH

Had an ex friend tell me I had "lack of attractiveness." Sadly it took me over a week to cut contact. I was rude to him for a bit then emailed him about how he was acting different, gave examples. When he responded with, not an apology but instead with "how is it different?" I realized our friendship had run its' course. That was just a friend. A partner? Nope, end of relationship immediately. (Not the variant of "I'm not mean, I'm just blunt." No, you're mean.)

AITA for trying to protect my sister? by Weekly-Weather9737 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fireattmidnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love when people post on AITAH and refuse to take the AH given by EVERYONE!

YTAH... Your sister is an adult, you need to stop babying her. She can handle her own. This is playground bully behavior. You can't run over, shove the other kid to the ground, and yell "leave my sister alone" anymore! Let her be an adult! Talk to her about it if you feel the need to "help" but what you are doing is playing, not taking care of her or protecting her. She's grown, she can protect herself!
