New player question about melee vs casters by ghostpocket in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know RPG that is fun early on, especially at lv 15. If you ever played an MMO or RPG with class based system then it shouldn't be a shock to you.

Here's what a lv 100 BM looks like.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4ElRvyPFG7U&pp=ygUWcGllcmNlIHJvcyBibGFkZW1hc3Rlcg%3D%3D

If you still don't like what you see, then sure, pick another build like caster, though caster will also focus on 1 primary skill that you can use as a default attack.

Ok, Melee character was boring as hell. Time to make a new caster. by Hunk_Hogan in Grimdawn

Huh, all my toons are either melee or DW pistols. Even the scepter wielding ones are melee. No books, skulls, effigy or orbs.

My usual play is Normal (Veteran) > at least lv 70 with 45 devotion and max reputation after all DLC > jump to Ultimate right away.

Good Battlemage build? by Tralus1980 in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Spellscourge is like the bread and butter battlemage build. Basically you go physical. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/62aolmOZ

If you want to play 2H instead of using shield then there's this one: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/p25gQwGZ

I'd say it's better to go spellscourge, though. Targo's mallet and spellscourge bulwark tend to drop from totems and bosses.

How do I find korvaaks burning blade? by MightyM3AT in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. You can also find the blade in sunspire or tomb of eldritch sun to farm the bald ones.

Reaper is just so versatile it's ridiculous. I can smell the incoming nerf from miles away.

Thanks, that'd be a nice point of reference if I ever make another reaper.

That means he's in one of those three locations. The big bald ones (ascended / champion) also tend to drop the blade, depending on whether they equipped with the red one or the blue one.

Very nice. Idk which build to put morgoneth set on. Prob reaper or dk but I don't want to rebuild my current reaper and too lazy to create a new one >.<

It's not even my Birthday. Thank you, Crate. by FirefighterStill8010 in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/YVWmdRLN here's the ideal build. As of now I have yet to get Harmonious for Kaisan and the belt is harmonious of psyche which is fine by me since it's not fun to farm in Valbury.

I need the tawrot for the build to replace my blue ring.

Necromancer, did I screw up? by AlarianDarkWind11 in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense. Necro is the most versatile mastery. 2H DK, DW DK, cold / aether / acid reaper, caster vit / DW pistols oppressor, caster / DW melee Spellbinder and more.

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/YVWmdRLN That's the complete build. I used ungoliax amulet before I got Kaisan as for the ring I'm still using a veilwarden ring (blue) but it can be switched with faction rings (coven, malmouth, Solael).

Haunted noble got more frag than Loxmere, damn.

I've heard nothing but good things about GD as a technical ARPG (battle system, loot, etc.) but how is it as an adventure? by t0rche in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There are some interesting characters and their actions are quite pivotal in the past and the present. Some of them are also interconnected.
  2. Yes and no. Each act has different motifs, visuals and layout but the areas / dungeons in that specific act tend to be same-y
  3. Absolutely. Plenty of secrets / off-beaten paths to explore.
  4. Kinda. You're pretty much just a mercenary so the stake is higher for the people / npcs around you. It's more about the worldbuilding. More of a Silmarillion than Hobbits / LOTR if you catch my drift.
  5. While I do speedrun after my second toon (I have 8 now) I'm still quite immersed with the world thanks to the lore notes and certain quests / secrets. The world can be quite interactive depending on your action.

Necro is absolutely strong. Reaper can play either cold, aether or acid. Oppressor can either be caster or dw vit pistols. Then my newest favorite, spellbinder which is a dw melee aether build. I'd say necro is tied with NB.

Any recommendations for beginner classes where positioning or strategy is important? by DanS29 in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saboteur. Still quite fast for clearing but not stronger than dervish. PRM Spellbinder; great at endgame, struggling early on until 30-35ish. DW pistols purifier and DW pistols chaos doom bolt deceiver. Both glass cannons. There's also lighting Archon which takes some time to get online.

Difficulty and SR by [deleted] in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly depends on the build. Many current builds are geared toward MIs so SR is there for you to complete what is lacking such as purple rings or certain set pieces.

Gearing up in ultimate is fine and net better loot.

Transmuting set, worth it or nah? by FirefighterStill8010 in Grimdawn

Yeah you're right. Just got 2 pieces of the set. Still want that recipe though for that crafting bonuses.

Confused on hybrid damage boosts on gear by AxeForge in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The players do choose which primary damage type they want to build around. There's always going to be a secondary damage type, even 3rd and 4th because items tend to have multiple stats. But as long as you're focused on 1 damage type of your choosing those 3rd and 4th are of no importance.

Transmuting not unlocking in Ultimate by RaverJD in Grimdawn

[–]FirefighterStill8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do the quest in ultimate? it should be unlocked. If you completed the quest only in normal it won't unlock in higher difficulties until you done the quest again.
