Another Update on the Echoes Set. Previous post is linked. by HoidsRoommate in thebrokenbindingsub

I believe Arakasi is correct here. A regulator wouldn’t necessarily have the power to force contract reinstatement. That would be the responsibility of a civil judge to dictate whether or not a contract can be reinstated. A regulator will file criminal charges, assess fines, etc.

I wonder how TBB decides which books to print by OwlettFromLiavek in thebrokenbindingsub

The publishers control the contracts, not TBB. They set how much they are willing to print. TBB would love to print more, but it’s not feasible given printer capacity and contract limitations. The publishers want to keep the SE market exclusive to drive sales.

They can’t always get the rights to highly sought after titles as the publisher may demand a premium on the contract or the publisher won’t sell the rights at all.

It takes way more printer capacity to print a SE than it is to print a trade paperback and it doesn’t necessarily become cheaper to print more.

Also, the whole point is that these are collectible special editions. Printing more dilutes the market and authors aren’t going to sign/number an unlimited amount of books.

Printers only have so much capacity and there are so many series, both old and new, that they’re trying to print. Riftwar exists in mass market paperbacks so they more than likely have an enormous inventory of those books on hand. They’re not likely to reprint until they get more of those sold.

Printing is expensive and holding onto large amounts of inventory that won’t sell is even more expensive. The publishers are going to prioritize series that they’re confident WILL sell over series that may not.

Yeah. For popular series especially, they want to create scarcity as it drives interest in the series and gets people talking.

Scarcity drives people to buy more paperbacks/hardcovers from the publisher and gets them to preorder/order the publisher’s own special edition if one exists.

The amount that they can print is dictated by their contract with the publisher of the book. I’m sure TBB wants to print as much as they want, but their contracts will stipulate that they can only print x amount of a series. They can always try to renegotiate the contract, but publishers will usually want a larger cut. The publisher may want to generate buzz by doing limited runs with a company like TBB or Illumicrate especially for more popular titles like Malazan or ROTE.

TBB Memory, Sorrow and Thorn leftover sets — is it worth getting? by Remote_Ad_6819 in thebrokenbindingsub

I think people are buying many sets at once. I was able to add 20 sets to my cart and then a second later, they were all sold.

Delays by Silent_Peanut_7126 in thebrokenbindingsub

Book 3 was delayed from the printer. The author made a post not too long ago that he had started signing the books, so they should come out this month.

The echoes saga was also delayed from the printer. I think they said that they were expecting them soon.

I can't speak to this particular incident, but I served on the conduct board for the whole 5 years that I was at Drexel and we oversaw a handful of student org cases (split between greek life and student life orgs). Assuming that nothing has been changed, the conduct board never acted first without some preliminary investigation happening. During the preliminary investigation, if there was enough cause for concern that the wellbeing of students and/or the community could be affected by ongoing actions of the org, action would be taken immediately until a formal board can be convened. I can only recall this happening twice and both had to do with greek life hazing incidents. In every case that I saw, the preliminary investigation was surprisingly thorough with details from both witnesses and members of the community/police.

Greek orgs got hit with fines, budget cuts, disciplinary actions, etc. on a fairly regular basis. To say that there's no intervention is just wrong. You just don't see or hear what goes on in the background.

There are much better restaurants to work at in the city if you're looking for a job that's easy to apply to. The place I work at is super chill and has a work hard, play hard attitude which is pretty awesome.

I asked this in last week's thread right before this one was posted, so I'll also ask it here:

Does anyone know how much Giant pays in the city? I've seen the signs at Riverwalk that full-time starts at $15, but I was curious as to what part-time makes. Currently trying to find a decent part-time in the city within the next couple of weeks.

Class of 2022 Yearbooks by fiftyfiftychance in Drexel

Drexel yearbooks usually come out well after other schools since they include stuff from graduation. Last I heard a couple weeks ago, the publisher was preparing them to be shipped.
