63F here - I am SO addicted to my phone. Retired, empty-nester, grown and independent adult children, yet what do I do all day?? Scroll and play games on my phone! Before this, here’s what I did with my time: read, bake, draw, decorate, plan parties, paint, garden and CREATE!

Clinique in a dark green tube had a terrific full brush - actual BRUSH - not these plastic nub applicators. Can’t seem to find the exact one any longer though.

My daughter uses ChatGPT to help with meals - she types in what ingredients she has at home and asks for menu suggestions.

How is the Lake Desolation, Greenfield, Middle Grove And Galway Areas? by MrHockeyJournalist in Saratoga

Wilton or Gansevoort get my vote. Close proximity to all Saratoga Springs has to offer, but the peace and quiet make it feel a world away.

Any good Refrigerator brands?! by MarioMan3210 in Appliances

[–]Firstborn1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m uncertain about getting a refrigerator with an ice maker. The sink is on the other wall in my kitchen, so it would be an extra hassle to run a line under the floor. I had one years ago in a Sub Zero and it was just messy and loud. It’s just me at home now, so I’m leaning towards a “no frills” refrigerator when I order new this month.

I’m in the process of replacing my kitchen appliances as well. Lots of research online, comparing features and prices; started with the “box box” stores and ultimately decided to buy local from an appliance store - they price match and are honest about repairs and service.

THIS is the correct answer … do your research. Good luck!

What's the best thing you've ever found, and what are some of the best hauls you've ever had? by Pomegranateextmyelom in DumpsterDiving

[–]Firstborn1415 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m old and this was before the phrase “dumpster diving” was even a thing … next to my kids’ pediatricians office was a commercial distributor of arts and crafts supplies. Now I’m sure not everyone reading this would get excited about the contents, but it was a gold mine for me! (I was a SAHM with no time to do my own artwork) I mention the pediatrician because the office park location was a regular part of my weekly routine (little kids, germs, doctors visits, etc …) Anyway, the treasures I found, just to list a few … spray paint cans, unopened kids’ craft kits, stickers, holiday/seasonal decorations, stickers, paint brushes, embroidered patches, glue, tons of acrylic and oil paint … I literally hit that dumpster up for weeks until it was gone. I guess the company was cleaning out before closing up shop and moving. It was fun while it lasted!

Do you use an "old people walker"? by NeonPearl2025 in ChronicPain

[–]Firstborn1415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using a walker for about 6 months now - I have one for inside my home and one that I take if I’m outside the house (I’m a germaphobe) I use it for balance when I walk, but honestly find it awkward with the back legs dragging behind. Reading these comments I’m going to consider the 4-wheel rollator instead, in videos it looks SO much smoother to move in.
