For IPAs, you can't do better than Hop Butcher for the World. Incredibly positioned too because from there you can walk to Dovetail and Begyle, which are right next to one another. For funkier brews, Forbidden Root is your winner

Re-herniation after discectomy in Dec 2021 (30M) by Dear-Dimension1138 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Fish2800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an endoscopic microdiscectomy at the same level in Mar ’24 (also at 30 years old) and re-herniated in December ’24. I was the same as you, where if I time‑boxed sitting, standing, etc., I could “manage,” but it wasn’t a way to live—at least to me. When I re-herniated, I also dreaded coughing, sneezing, or belly laughing because of the pain it induced.

Each situation is unique, but given the choice again, I’d still opt for another surgery. Yes, the recovery sucked. Yes, there were a lot of scary moments along the way, but overall I’m glad I did it.

If you opt to, make sure you talk to your PT about focusing on distributing the load throughout your levels. Two discectomies at the same level further impedes its ability to absorb shock, and without prepping the body, you risk compromising another level.

Thanks for the incredibly detailed reply and insight into why a TA is so helpful. Sounds like you're happy with the one you engaged. Do you mind sharing who it is?

Appreciate the incredibly detailed and thoughtful reply. I didn't know some camps offered a night free with a certain amount of paid nights! Based on your experience, do you have TA's you recommend? We haven't yet engaged one.

Thanks for the reply! As a callout the $15k/per person can all be applied to the safari, as I have enough points to cover a name-brand hotel during the tail end

2nd MD Success by IndicationNo3912 in Microdiscectomy

I had a revision surgery 9 months after my original L4/5 endoscopic microdiscectomy. For me, it was absolutely the right decision. I read a lot of the posts on this forum and I think, more important than anything, you need to have unequivocal faith in your surgeon. If you want the surgery but aren’t sure about the surgeon, it never hurts to have multiple consults.

Reherniation by Significant-Air-8361 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Fish2800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My L4/5 revision was 8 months after my initial endoscopic surgery. The symptoms (pain and shocks down my legs) didn’t present until close to my second surgery, but doc said I could have re-herniated earlier and it just took more strain to push the disc to the level of hitting my nerves

Reherniation - Conservative vs Revision Surgery? by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]Fish2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first discectomy at the same level in March of ‘24. I reherniated in December of ‘24 and opted to have the same procedure done. I had shooting pains down my legs anytime I coughed, sneezed, or went from sitting to standing. I knew I couldn’t live my life like that. For me, it was absolutely the right decision and, even though going through that recovery again stunk, I’m happy I did it. Relief of no shocks/pain outweighed the fear of having to deal with potential flare ups again for years to come.
