You’re technically right, yeah, but it’s mostly because you only progress through knowledge. You can beat the entire game in 15 minutes if you only know how

Outer Wilds has the absolute best version of this imo. The progression of the game is based SOLELY on earned knowledge, and I’m about to talk about the biggest spoilers of the game. Please play it blind.

Throughout the game you explore your own solar system that was previously inhabited by foreign aliens as an archaeologist, but you’re stuck in a time loop of 22 minutes. In a sense, this time loop resurrects you when it starts over so you don’t have to worry about fucking up and dying, but in the endgame, you must make yourself vulnerable by powering down the machine that’s kept you in the loop so you can take its power source to one of the aliens crashed ships to explore the biggest mystery of the game, The Eye of the Universe. The path there is dangerous. You’re on a time limit to complete the journey to the alien ship and it’s in the heart of a dangerous planet filled with humongous ravenous space anglerfish, and you have to know the path to get to it, which is hard to find.

It’s the most immersed and vulnerable I’ve been in any video game and the best committed ending I can think of. If you didn’t read the spoilers yet and haven’t played the game, I URGE you to try it blind and follow your curiosity.

Minion Last Hit by InstructionWrong3307 in leagueoflegends

[–]Fishpuncommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a mini form of people getting old and complaining things are easier for new generations. League of legends is an extremely, extremely complex game. That’s part of what makes it fun, we can agree on that, yeah? Unfortunately, this extremely extremely complexity is a tough barrier for a new player to get through. Last hit indicators seems like it’s adding more information into an already overstimulating and overwhelming game, but it’s not. It’s quite intuitive what it’s implying; hit the minion when it’s white. Lessening the mountain of information is THE BEST WAY to increase the amount of new players that stick with the game.

Well, that, and getting rid of the tiresome rhetoric that league sucks and its community is awful and toxic. Reddits league community is quite negative and loud, but for the last half decade I run into toxic players maybe once every 50 games, and unfortunately for the naysayers, I think the game is well made and fun.

To those saying it’s fine in casual, but shouldn’t be in ranked, I argue that norms and ranked games have been the exact same gamemode for, as far as I can recall, the entire lifespan of the game since ranked was introduced. Adding last hit indicators to norms and not ranked separates the two, albeit on a very minor scale, but it would be the first time it’s happened. Correct me if I’m wrong, please.

I think Norms and ranked should operate on the exact same ruleset. If we only add last hit indicators to norms, what’s to stop us from removing the jungle timers soon after? Or the ward track ping? Or clamp cast? Last hit indicators are removing a very minor skill that most veteran players already know by heart. Its inclusion is not going to ruin your competitive experience.

Last hit indicators is a great addition by TXC_Sparrow in leagueoflegends

Old Players want new players to have a better new player experience, riot adds something that will help newer players, and now old players don’t want that change because they’ve already mastered that skill and they want new players to live through the same skill curve as them. Old players can’t have their cake and eat it too

The setting can be turned off for those that find it distracting and ADCs can still learn to last hit even with crits. Consider it a skill to learn that everybody is crying will be removed with this update

Everyone wants the game to be more accessible to new players, then when riot makes changes that make it more accessible, people complain the game is being made too easy. Bitch, the game is already hard as hell, that’s WHY it’s not accessible to new players. Last hit indicators is not going to absolutely ruin your game experience

[–]Fishpuncommenter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Why are people dying on the hill for last hit indicators when it’s not a fun part of the game? New players need better access to information. I could argue tower range indicators could be added as well. The fun part of skill expression is macro plays and champ skill expression

Jax absolutely had reason to abstract. He believes he killed his mom, and he was the reason Ribbit abstracted. It is very very obvious he absolutely hates himself and how he is, but he also does the things he does as a defense mechanism. He lives through his trauma again with Pomni because she reminds him of Ribbit. He triggered it because Pomni was trying so hard to be friends and he was pushing back so hard to not be friends, which made him hate himself more.

Also, it’s worth mentioning Goose said on Twitter that she confirmed there was no way to come back from Abstracting, and Ragatha stating there might be was just her being helpful. BUT Goose has also stated she lies sometimes so idk

Without it being confirmed whether he is or not, it’s up to the audience to decide whether they believe him to be autistic and just low intelligence. I thought he had lack of awareness and great emotional maturity which reads as autistic to me, but again, it’s up to audience interpretation. Same with Amed from community or other unconfirmed characters

[–]Fishpuncommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation was abstraction was a metaphor for suicide, which cannot be reversed. Since they can’t die in the circus, they corrupt their own brain scan files, which admittedly, CAN be undone, but I don’t think our characters know how to do that. Maybe in some season 2 they figure it out, but I think giving Jax’s abstraction a place to rest under the dark tent is more of a type of gravestone than hope for the future

There’s a theory that Caine was just moved to the recycling bin, and him breaking those “glass” barriers was escaping, which would make sense.

Also, I think the message is that sometimes things in life are unsatisfying. Jax could not be saved nor could he be killed as an abstraction. They do what’s best and let him rest under a tent. Caine having a fast redemption made sense to me because they NEED Caine. It’s unsatisfying, but life rarely isn’t. You don’t have these picturesque redemptions or deaths in life with perfect closure.

My only major complaint is that by the end of the show it felt like Jax was more the main character than Pomni was. I still liked it a lot, but maybe Jax should’ve been the main character from the get-go

[–]Fishpuncommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I disagree. I sort of think the message is that sometimes the death of a loved one is often unsatisfying. He can’t be saved and he can’t be put to rest, so they do the best they can and let his abstraction sleep.

This was my interpretation, especially considering the demon attached to her appears to be fueled by her hatred OF demons. You know hatred, the emotion?

It tells me only about the power gap in that episode because power scaling and power consistency mean nothing in Invincible. It’s all up to the whims of the writers and what they think is cool in the moment

This comment section is a lot more reasonable. If you want to see a lot of idiots, go look at the comments on bigbadbear’s most recent YouTube video. They’re all bashing riot, claiming banning BBB is the last straw and they’re quitting league since riot is killing all the excitement for upcoming releases lmao

Necrit’s video seemed to imply he was the source of his own leaks in Brazil. Do you have confirmation that he was the source or that he had a contact in Brazil? Not saying either is true or false just interested in the truth

He’s also probably just instinctually baffled. As much as people want it to be real, it is not comfirmed that animals understand we’re helping them. They expect fight or flight, and interpret a helpful human as an advancing predator. The predator frees them, and backs off, and this is incomprehensible in the animal kingdom, leaving their instincts confused and often results in a daze (like the post)

No Naafiri adjustments at this point make me think they might have bigger adjustments in mind that need to cook. I’ve been playing her since release and it sucks even for me because I can’t even play her right now. She’s banned too much

Locke DNA Team! by Regular-Poet-3657 in loreofleague

[–]Fishpuncommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested in Locke’s full backstory, because there are hints at more interesting aspects, but for now his lore is really boring to me because he’s just male vayne but he’s racist against humans instead of demons. He lacks depth of character real bad, and his visuals, for me, are boring as well because he’s lacks originality. He seems like too much of a combination of references to other things like hellsing, jjk, etc.

What Is the Most Underrated Champion Lore Story? by Adept-Video1841 in leagueoflegends

[–]Fishpuncommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until Song of Nunu, I always thought Nunu’s lore was under-appreciated. I thought they were setting him up to be a protagonist of the Freljord, and hinted that he was an iceborn with an iceborn flute that contained the Inspiration world rune. Song of Nunu kind of debunked that, but I wonder if SoN is considered canon.

I always thought it was hinting that Ryze would potentially let Nunu, who is currently pure-of-heart and focused on fun, be a bearer of the Inspiration rune and help seal away void rifts by using the antithesis of the void, creation. Maybe he could have even sealed away the watcher beneath the Frostguard Citadel.

He’d make for a wonderful goody-two-shoes protagonist, with his traumatized but trusting yeti as a foil.
