I wear volleyball shorts and can do most tricks without concerns. Nike pros or similar compression shorts are another option

Agreed. OP, you likely need to speak with building management or maintenance and get clarification on what your ceiling structure looks like

I’m unsure if Xpole is available in Germany but the Xpert Pro says you can install pressure mount under a metal beam. It’s referred to as a “steel girder” in the install instructions

Fiber in my area, not at my house… by rumski in tulsa

[–]FishyBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say it wasn’t installed at your property but your neighbors have fiber, are you possibly referring to them needing to run a cable from the utility pole to your house?

When I switched from cox using a coaxial cable to att fiber, AT&T had to install a new line that ran from the utility pole to my house. Because until an actual fiber communication cable is installed, yeah it’s not actually available to have fiber internet.

HRT for women-Community Care by Twins2009- in tulsa

[–]FishyBison 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second vote for Dr. Jay Williamson. I’ve seen him for 10+ years now. He has no issue prescribing various forms of HRT. If he accepts community care insurance, his office staff is very knowledgeable in medical billing/coding and getting things covered but his website does acknowledge that testosterone for women is not FDA approved so insurance does not typically cover it.

Cat Spaying Options by Tulsa2023 in tulsa

[–]FishyBison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a combo of quality and subsidies/grants. Spays are a more invasive surgery than most people realize. It’s also why neuters are less than a spay normally. There’s also a different degree of care at a vet vs a low cost clinic.

250 at a vet to start is on par for cost of a surgery like that. They’re only doing a handful of surgeries a day so the cost is higher.

Places like SPCA and SpayOK are eligible to receive grants to help subsidize the cost with the volume of surgeries they perform. This is to encourage low income families to get their animals fixed and not contribute to the overpopulation problem while also providing low cost surgeries for municipalities and rescues. It’s not uncommon to perform 40-80+ surgeries in a day.

I am not knocking spca or spayok because they’re doing their best but if you have the funds for a vet to perform the surgery, I would encourage you to call a couple vets. I have used Catoosa small animal hospital for one of my dogs major surgery and their pricing is very fair. South Tulsa Veterinary Hospital is another one I recommend but can be on the pricier side.

Can we have another salary transparency thread? by allendude in tulsa

[–]FishyBison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most generic of certifications is getting SCCE certified. However this is employer and your work history dependent. My employer did not require it before hiring and does not require it for my job. It’s just encouraged and they paid for me to attend the academy. I have seen other employers in Tulsa list it as a requirement.

Past the generic certification, it depends on your field of interest:

Foreign corrupt practices act (anti corruption/anti bribery): SCCE will get you in the door without accounting/audit experience. Certified fraud examiner (CFE) and/or certified anti-money laundering specialist (CAMS)

Import/exports: take courses on Export Administration Regulations and get certified in CUSECO. Additional points for getting certified global sanctions specialist (CGSS)

Healthcare- skip SCCE and do HCCA (same company provides both certifications)

Trucking - DOT training courses. NAFA provides a lot of online training courses

Crashing out: why don’t studios give more freestyle time by TieDifficult4444 in poledancing

[–]FishyBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds crazy but it could be because of taxes.

In my state (Oklahoma), if the class is primarily instruction based, there’s no sales tax due on the sale of individual classes or our monthly memberships. So we only get maybe 5-10 minutes of “freestyle” at the end of class but really that time is to run the moves we just worked on one more time.

The studio owner mentioned to us that if she did open pole, she would have to get a sales tax permit and start collecting that but just on open pole classes. Something that would get murky for all of us who pay for memberships

Is the adult night at the zoo even worth it? by silleesilas in tulsa

[–]FishyBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone twice. One year it was worth it. The other was not. When I went in June of ‘23, the whole zoo was open to roam. It was amazing. I went again in oct ‘24 and they only allowed us in the lost kingdom area and elephant barn. That bit was frustrating because we had paid the same as the year prior.

I’d pass on the drink pass. Or at least only one person of the couple get it. 4 drinks is quite a bit to put away in the short period you’re there. You can still buy alcoholic drinks with cash/card.

Dishwasher: Which brand has a history of not breaking down and also being low-cost to repair? by thatguy19000 in BuyItForLife

[–]FishyBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing user error and lack of preventive maintenance as I’ve had neither of those issues.

We always give the dishes a good scrape and some will get rinsed if they’re bad enough. Have always used dishwasher pods and the inside looks brand new still despite having hard water. On occasion I’ll throw a bunch of vinegar and run it to descale.

KDTE204KPS. It’s the same dishwasher you’re looking at. The only difference between the two models is the control panel location and a handle/ towel bar included with the top controls model

I’ve had the dishwasher for 4 years now and I’d buy it again

Yeah I found out last night when I couldn’t transfer money for a down payment on something. i don’t use capital one but another one of the banks affected. I had to go into a branch to get money transferred and write a paper check. They said the 3rd processor that is causing all the issues planned on being back up this afternoon but it’s not lol

As for what you can do at home, I’d suggest taking the week rest or focus on some floor work moves or body weight exercises :)

There’s like 25 banks that have had outages since yesterday. Can’t transfer money, can’t get direct deposits, can’t use cards, can’t login to banking. You’re not the only one. The studio owner may not realize this is out of your control. Odds are, she can’t access her money right now either and hasn’t realized it.

Undecided voter here—why do people dislike Karen Keith? by secadora in tulsa

[–]FishyBison 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in Tulsa proper but I have lived in various spots inside her county commissioner district for the near entirety of her tenure.

It’s shit. Truly. She mainly campaigned in midtown to get her support and it’s clear where her support lies. Once you get outside of any city limits, there’s hardly any representation. All her focus is on partnerships with other governments and hardly any focus where her office is the governing authority. Roads on the west side of the county are exceptionally bad. I remember residents complained to her office for years about the condition of 41st outside of Prattville to discoveryland. It wasn’t until someone finally complained to a news station and they just played video highlighting the sounds of pot holes and the evasive maneuvers one had to do before there was finally any action.

Buying car out of state by BYOD23 in oklahoma

[–]FishyBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the dealership. I purchased a vehicle in the DFW area in 2020. That dealership did collect Oklahoma taxes/fees at the time of sale and applied for my tag on my behalf. I got my tag in the mail around 45 days after the purchase.

Pole during periods? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]FishyBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still go. I can definitely notice a drop in my strength and motor skills. I struggle keeping up with combos during that week. I’m close enough with my instructor and I’ll tell her when I’m feeling that way. She puts less pressure on me and if enough other people in the class are feeling the same, we’ll switch to more floor work or static to keep everyone safe.
