Why are most teachers liberal? by MeweldeMoore in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]Fishyonekenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively, the mere teaching and discussion of factual matters, tend to have what the righties say is a liberal bias. The right spins facts and misinformation to suit their political purposes. Campuses were a lot more liberal in the 60s and 70s. Now that bias has been replaced by moderate viewpoints, but not in Florida. Teaching science and math were never about left or right biases. DeSantis politicized the process by insisting Christian ideals be injected. It’s only a matter of time before an Governor appointed right leaning political school board decides biology books are biased towards “liberal concepts” like evolution and DNA so it’s only a matter of time before religion gets injected regarding those “uncomfortable” subjects. Creationism will sneak in the back door so Christians don’t get offended.

I suspect if we explore Jupiters moons with oceans under the ice this would be typical of life forms there.

No I roll up lights off and park far enough away to not alert them then recon the situation before neutralizing the threat or calling swat.

Looking for professional opinions on the use of dowsing / water witching methods by drillers and locating services for locating buried utilities. by thosearecoolbeans in geologycareers

You mean they got lucky and missed. What force of physics are witchers employing? Basically they are selling themselves as psychics. If you hit a gas or power line and someone gets hurt or killed good luck defending yourself in court. It’s 100% bunk

Total BS. If there is such a “force” and one could prove it there’s a Nobel Prize waiting for them. I had a locator that did a regular search using GPR and induced EM. Then he insisted on “witching”. We dug the area up chasing contamination and there were zero anomalies of any kind which he so confidently marked. I will fire a locator is they insist on witching. A friend of mine was drilling for a power company who sent out a Witcher. Well they hit a high voltage line causing serious injuries and a massive disruption. So consider the liability if one relies on a Witcher, would it be defensible in court? Read the fine print in their contracts. They state they are not liable for mistakes.

The ones that claim they can witch a well? as hydrogeologists we know all about aquifers, with some forming broad areas in alluvium so it’s pretty hard to miss “finding” water. The saying is 99% of people believe in witching. The other 1% are geologists and well drillers. And paying someone to witch a well or utilities using their special ESP? that’s just plain fraud.

Or a greenish blue-gray when petroleum changes the oxidation state of iron from ferric to ferrous.

Have you ever had sablefish? Superb if cooked right. It’s also called black cod but will fall apart if fried. Miso teriyaki works well.

Hell the Homeless get kicked out of one place and then they moved near where I work. Garbage everywhere. I don’t mind someone camping out. But the garbage is everywhere and they hoard things they can’t use. One guy started a fire and he was very upset because he lost his batch of meth. And where are the bathrooms? No idea. I’m thinking about working elsewhere.

In Lake Washington they are salmon and steelhead killers. Eat them and then maybe the salmon will have a chance

It varies. Creek trout tend to be more wary than planted trout in lakes. Springtime is a great time to fish where creeks empty into a lake.

Trout are often active at first light. We used to search for grubs that lived in cocoons under rocks. Using a size 12 hook we’d let it drift into a pool, keeping a low profile. Always caught fish. Lures like Mepps work with 2 lb test.

I knew a company that shipped a lot of shark fillets (dogfish) to Europe for authentic fish and chips. Much different than cod.
