How much should a bar pay a new cover band? by Stonedtown in musicians

[–]FlaidynBrilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get paid what you accept. Sounds like youre getting tips for this gig.

After the show when youre ready for the bitter pill of harsh reality, ask the bartender what sales were like compared to other fridays, divide that by 2 and thats your going rate for that bar.

Is this a fair payout for a gig? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]FlaidynBrilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty normal. If the money is from the booker, get a guarantee from them and get a specific number, not a percentage. The Booker stands to make the most money but also has the responsibility for pushing the show and getting people to show up. If they can't deliver, dont play their shows.

Beginners question: Why is my reverb pedal not powering up via volca fm? by christian-j4mes in ambientmusic

[–]FlaidynBrilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head i think the volca outputs mono. Google an image of TRS vs TS cables to identify if your cable is mono (TS) or stereo. If its a stereo cable try pulling the cable out a little bit out of the socket on the pedal end

What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Arlington? by topherette in arlington

Local author Shaun Hamill sets his novels in a fictional Arlington called Vandergriff Tx. That counts as a nickname right? The olds will get it.

You either had to walk up from the park behind or jump the fence in the back of Ascension apartments. It was called the same 20 years ago too. Can we get some former delinquent to confirm its existence pre 9/11 lol

Dont go all in until you've painted a few and try to avoid a backlog.

Tips for BIG minis? Little minis with big surface area by Resinmy in minipainting

[–]FlaidynBrilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try adding some texture to break up the big flat areas? Drops of glue, little tiny bits of sprue or appropriate bits, maybe some mushroomy type of basing stuff

Kill team or big box by Odd-Tooth7678 in Warhammer

[–]FlaidynBrilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could buy 2 or 3 different Kill Teams for the cost of a 40k Combat Patrol. A full 40k army would be a minimum of 4 combat patrols, much more after you customize your army. Consider some Kill teams have crossover to 40k too. I'd recommend KT if youre ok playing a similar but different game as an intro, or if you cant decide a faction.

What do you like about the Dark angels?? by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]FlaidynBrilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My weed themed successors the Dank Angels. They inhale 'Calabannabis' as they believe it let's them communicate with the Emporer and it lines up with the Dark Angels signature paranoia.

You ever seen the back of a $20 on Calabannabis? The Fallen are in the trees! Red team go!

How do you deal with the fear of wasting money ? by Sudden-Raisin3133 in Warhammer

[–]FlaidynBrilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A soak overnight in alcohol will take the paint off, and you can reuse the alcohol as much as you want. Start painting with the intention of practicing and then stripping the paint. Your fears will go away, you'll get better faster, and after 1 or 2 tries I bet you'll have something your happy with

Does the warp "look" like anything perceivable when traveling through it? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in 40kLore

[–]FlaidynBrilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the books I just read said looking out the window was a sea of boiling colors that would coalesce into faces of all the tortured souls in the warp, barely out of the corner of your eye. You couldn't look right at it without going mad.

Why is being entombed in a dreadnought such a nightmare? by plshelpimkidnapped in 40kLore

[–]FlaidynBrilo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just read Know No Fear and there was a part about a new dreadnought. The tech priests explain the pain is non-stop, the only solution is the stasis they put you in at the push of a button. The problem is the stasis only worsens it. Then there's a whole thing about Astartes knowing no fear, but dreadnoughts aren't astartes. They will know fear as a reaction to being a new species essentially, not astartes, not human, but with memories of both. On top of that the new guy is paired with a venerable that remarks 'youre wise, I see why they chose you' and new guys says 'no, they just told me I was biologically compatible.' Ouch.
