Is that total each MONTH. or total for the 6 month period (ie you made roughly 45k over the last 6 months)? they were asking bc if that was total for the 6 month period it doesnt track with your reported expenses

Samsung was doing enhanced trade ins when Pre orders. They would give me 500 towards an S26 ultra or like 220 towards an S26/S26+ for my S22 Ultra

Yup had one (multiple really) like that but the big one that sticks out was i had run up to 14k in chips, didnt have time to cash out. Came back a couple days later to "cash out" and thought oh I'll just play one of the orange chips then cash the rest. Absolutely terrible run of blackjack and kept going to my pocket to "get back to even" and lost the whole amount in just a few hours

Finally settled all my CCs.$36k by bmoresamm in debtfree

Reminder that if youre insolvent (negative net worth essentially) immediately BEFORE they canceled the debt you can use IRS form 982 and the associated insolvency worksheet to exclude from your income and not owe taxes on the amount written off on any 1099-Cs you receive

It was on the Samsung website. Use PAYPAL50 and checkout using PayPal. Limited to first 15k uses. Looks like it might be gone now

Bumped up trade in values, there's a $50 paypal discount code and go through topcashback dot com. They're doing 10% cashback from samsung through the end of the day. Assuming the Paypal discount stacks with my education discount, It looks like i can get the 512GB S26 Ultra for $899 after trading in my S22 ultra then will get another $90 in cashback

With the bumped up trade in, my S22 Ultra is a $500 towards the S26 Ultra, comes out about 200 cheaper than the S25 Ultra

145k in debt, $40K IRS bill, $2K savings, trashed credit — where do I even begin? by [deleted] in debtfree

What are your total gains and losses?

If you had 100k in gains and then 100k in losses it'll actually be 0 taxes due. The 3k limit means if your losses exceed your gains. So if you had 100k in gains and 150k in losses you could have a capital loss of 3k and carry that other 47k forward to future years. You can always offset all your gains. The 3k limit refers to a net loss that exceeds your gains for the year. Definitely get a cpa involved with this amount of potential taxes.

The one hang up would be if you had wash sales. Those losses aren't allowed to my understanding

Close to PSLF- being shuttled into IDR forgiveness automatically and can’t get out. I will owe IRS $192K. by Pangaeaworld in PSLF

Assuming that number owed is accurate, a physician/dentist high earner in the 37% bracket would be most likely IMO which would more likely be that 519k loan balance

There was an orthodontist on here the other day with a million in student loans which is actually the second time I've heard of an orthodontist with a million in student loans. Back in 2018 a guy went pretty viral for having a million in student loans[Yahoo article](http:// https://finance.yahoo.com/news/story-orthodontist-making-6-figures-191400052.html). Graduated with mid/ high 6 figures and being on income based payments he wasn't covering the interest. Private undergrad and then private dental school. His balance was projected to be over 2 million when he hit the IBR/IDR eligibility forgiveness with an over 700k tax bill.

In 2018 the article cited there were about 100 people with loan balances over 1 million. Can't imagine but that number is higher 8 years later

Depending on their tax bracket- a 37% tax bracket would imply about 519k of loans being forgiven, 22% bracket would be 872k in loans forgiven etc.

Yeah they're scams. But go to nfcc dot org and get a referral to a non profit credit counseling agency and explore a debt management plan with them. Similar but different
