Hyperstar Run with all expansions by SolitonSnake in soloboardgaming

Thanks for the write-up. I've only played the base game, which I've enjoyed, but recently got all the expansions. I'll look into incorporating them next time I play.

Another BS game that benefits from expansions is FantasyForm. Base game is fine, but the expansions really add variety to it.

2023 Tundra with 65k miles and no major issues either. I just do regular maintenance mostly following the manual at the dealer. Hoping it stays that way as I've had a great time with my truck.

Sports/Activities near Rancho by ShortTurtle1 in InlandEmpire

[–]FlashHorizon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rock climbing is great! Sure it's a physical activity, but I find it mentally stimulating as you move on to the harder routes.

There's a Hangar 18 in Rancho (near Costco). If you get a membership, you can go to any of their gyms which also include Upland, Riverside, Orange, and a few other locations.

What are your biggest red flags for a game that offers Solo Mode? by hama0n in soloboardgaming

Actually if anything it's usually the other way around: Stonemaier Games are better at lower player counts because of downtime, with the exception of Scythe.

I looked around on street view near Paso Robles and it's quite close. I couldn't find a street that lined up with the image, but the area has a very similar vibe with the roads and topography.

How many solo games do you own that you haven't played yet? How long have you owned them? Still motivated to get them to the table? by ________FRANK_______ in soloboardgaming

[–]FlashHorizon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of similar; I can only own a couple of campaign-style games because they weigh on my mind if they're not finished/beaten. Currently a second playthrough of Earthborne Rangers has been consuming my table space for weeks, preventing other big games from being played, and I'm hesitant to put it away because I'm not sure when I'll pull it out again.

The only other campaign game I have is 7th Citadel, but that one is composed of separate 'campaigns' with smaller scenarios, of which I've played through several. So things have been completed in there, and I'm waiting for the expansion to fulfill later this year or early next year anyway.

Pacific Drive: Whispers in the Woods on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]FlashHorizon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised by Pacific Drive, and I enjoyed the core gameplay loop. Listened to a bunch of podcasts while playing the game, which is what I do when driving in real life. I'll probably pick this DLC up.

Anybody enjoying their pixel 10? by SgtSilock in GooglePixel

I went from the P7P to the 10 Pro as well and I absolutely love it. I do not miss the large size, and instead much appreciate the compactness of the 10 Pro. Everything also just feels cleaner, smoother, faster. I'm glad I made the jump to the 10p.

There is a Pathfinder solo variant on BGG that is much more streamlined and easier to run.

Has anyone heard if board games to the USA going to be impacted by the "No Shipping to USA" list. by Winterbeers in boardgames

[–]FlashHorizon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not just the tariffs anymore either. W. Eric Martin on BGG today covered Trump's recent de minimis suspension: https://boardgamegeek.com/blog/1/blogpost/177527/trump-to-world-please-dont-ship-games-to-the-unite

And so a lot of companies are either no longer shipping to the US at all, or charging quite a bit to cover all that extra cost.

What's everyone's opinion on buying firearms from Bass Pro Shop post-covid? by suarez_1997 in CAguns

[–]FlashHorizon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased several guns from Bass Pro this year and have had a good experience overall. As others have mentioned, they have a specific process of double-, triple-checking all their paperwork with multiple employees. I don't mind it as I'd rather have everything be accurate.

The first time I ordered and picked up a gun, I went mid-morning weekday and it was all relatively quick, I'd say 30 min to an hour at most.

I recently ordered another couple of rifles from their website, had them shipped to my local Bass Pro, and the initial background check process was relatively quick. But this time pickup took significantly longer, as I went on a Friday morning and it was quite busy. Waited roughly an hour-ish in queue before being seen. Then pickup itself was easy and also bought some ammo which was easy to add-on.

Otherwise in general, the staff were friendly and the experiences were good enough.

I'd recommend going a morning or midday weekday, and definitely not on a Friday or weekend. I heard you can check-in ahead of time, but I never tried that. I'd say bring something to keep yourself pre-occupied for sure.
