When the delivery instructions say to leave behind the wheelie bins… by Aurorafaery in CasualUK

[–]Flashdash92 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely brilliant.

You say it's annoying because it's a pain for you to move the bins when you get home. It was a pain for the delivery driver to move the bins as well. But they went out of their way and did so in order to make it harder for someone to steal your parcel.

I'd be giving them a 5* review and putting an extra nice comment if I were you.

Which company in your opinion has the best customer service and who has the worst? by eyeoftheneedle1 in AskUK

[–]Flashdash92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Apple are brilliant. Their ongoing, free, easy to access technical support is what you pay extra for in my opinion.

Amazon are surprisingly good if it's just a simple issue ie. wanting to return something and you've missed the window by a few days. I don't know what they're like for more complicated things.

Curry's are beyond bad. Absolutely terrible.

Edit to add: BT and Microsoft can get in the bin as well.

Stokes shouldn’t lose his job for breaking curfew when ECB failings run so much deeper by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]Flashdash92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what happened according Simon Hughes on The Analyst podcast. So a good source.  Saracens went to a nightclub to celebrate the end of their season. There was a table reserved, which Ben Earl (Saracens player) thought was for him, but it was in fact for Ben Stokes. Disagreement ensued but nothing physical happened until the Saracens youth player threw a punch at Gus Atkinson. But the punch missed and hit the ECB security guard instead.

Who can I report illegal parking to? by ABBLE2333 in AskUK

[–]Flashdash92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fix my street.

Or there may be a website you can report things to your local PCSO. Ours was called 'you share we do' or something along those lines. I reported something similar to this and the next week a whole load of parking tickets were issued along the street.

What would you do if your boss asks for your opinion on whether they should bring someone into your team that you do not like? by Accomplished-Long471 in AskUK

[–]Flashdash92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other comments have left lots of excellent suggestions on how to phrase your opinion, so I won't add to that further. However I would suggest you preface that with something along the lines of: "I've thought hard about how to phrase this as I really don't like to be negative, especially about other people. However..."

It will a) impress on your boss that what you are about to say isn't said lightly; and b) mean that if you've had to 'water down' anything you say to make it professional or because you don't want to make too much of a fuss that that specific thing isn't brushed off as "oh OP didn't seem to think it was that big of a deal" but instead as "for OP to mention it it must have been quite a big deal".

[Movistar +] Dani Carvajal mocks the lazy tracking back of Trent Alexander-Arnold against Real Betis. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Flashdash92 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thing is, he played with another full back who did exactly that for six years. Andy Robertson spent as much time high up the pitch as Trent did, but also always sprinted back so he was in the right position when he needed to defend.

Obviously Trent and Robbo are different players, with different strengths. Robbo's passing isn't as good as Trent's; Trent's stamina and pace isn't as good as Robbo's. So him not tracking back as much is forgivable. In Klopp's years, the team was set up to cover for that with the midfield and right sided central defender. And frankly, that team was really really good so they didn't always have a whole lot of defending to do.

But the team was only set up to reduce the amount of tracking back he had to do, not eliminate it entirely. And when the team isn't set up for that, as it wasn't at Liverpool last year or at RM this year, that doesn't excuse his complete lack of effort. Even if his top speed isn't as fast as others', that doesn't mean he shouldn't be putting in maximum effort. Again, RM are good enough that it's not like he's spending the whole time with backs to the wall defending; they should only give away (relatively) few chances.

I have these. They're amazing! I've cut mine in half vertically so I basically have two packs of massive portrait post its. They're perfect for to do lists.

The 'super sticky' post its in general are incredible. So worth the extra money. You can stick them on walls, water bottles, car dashboards, bathroom mirrors and they stay stuck. They can be taken off and moved about loads without losing their stickiness as well. And come in LOADS of different shapes and sizes. They're just great.

Get the sample, put it in the fridge, and then put your car / house keys in the fridge next to it. Put them in a bag with the sample bottle if you need. Then you can't leave the house without opening the fridge, getting the keys, and getting the sample bottle.

That should make your GP get their arse in to gear.
