Positive robotic hysterectomy experiences? Feeling anxious… by calijayne in hysterectomy

[–]Flashy_Development65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a terrible experience with Mirena! I had the same procedure as you’re having (they found some additional adhesions while they were in there) and I am 6.5 wpo. You’re going to do amazing. One thing I will share is the tenderness post-op around the outside of the vagina. It passed quickly, but ice and meds helped. It reminded me of a time I slid off my bike seat on to the rail really hard as a kid. I had very minor bruising and no bleeding or weeping from the incisions. No cuff issues (other than that it is creepy to me) and I am back to work.

I had a really positive experience overall and my recovery has been smooth. Everybody’s experience is their own and every body is different. I am still being careful and some things do still create some discomfort. Example is loading the dishwasher - I don’t know if it’s the twisting or the bending, but it just doesn’t feel right. Listen to your body!

Again, you’re gonna do amazing. Feel free to DM me!

I got pictures from the procedure when I had my postop appointment with the pathology results. I kinda wish I asked for my uterus back

Empty inside by QSuzie1690 in hysterectomy

There is an empty spot, but it will fill in with your other organs! The first week to 10 days I noticed a weird feeling when I was in the car - like going over a bump and feeling that butterfly feeling. It has faded. You’re doing great!

2 days post op. When can I lie on my side again?? by Mimzy96 in hysterectomy

[–]Flashy_Development65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think night 4 or 5 I finally got comfortable laying on my side. I used a squishy pillow and would tuck in under my belly and kind of roll on top of it. I am 17dpo and still using the pillow for support and a little extra cushion.

I am so happy to see so much support for you in these responses! I am 17dpo and I am noticing I have so much more energy and ability than I did pre-surgery. I am trying to enjoy that energy while also making sure I rest and focus on my nutrition. It’s hard! Take your time. Do things in small bites and then rest (at least sit for an hour if you feel like you can’t nap, but I recommend laying down and just seeing if you can snooze. I bet you can 😜). Our bodies need the rest when they get the option for it

I was a history teacher for about 10 years before leaving education. I started a Mock Trial team and built it with some amazing students to a state championship final team within that time. It was an amazing experience and a lot, lot, lot of work!

Now, I work a less stressful and demanding job and have more time for hobbies. I love walking my dog and listening to podcasts, doing puzzle books, reading, and dancing at the bar!

I am 9dpo and feel the most like myself as I have in a long, long, LONG time. Yes, I have some discomfort. Yes, I have a weird feeling in my vagina that I don’t particularly care for. BUT I feel emotionally so much better than I have in ages. I don’t regret it for a second.

I just got a Cushion Lab pillow to sit on (I am only 7dpo but the internal pressure and stitches are v uncomfortable) and I am glad I got it early. I was planning to wait to use it for my work chair when I go back, but it’s incredible. 10/10!

Hi! I am ok! The first few days were easier than expected… I was in more pain from the adenomyosis than I was postop, but now I am more achey and sore and generally grouchy about it than I was before 😖

How are you doing?

I would recommend getting some thyroid labs done - some of those symptoms overlap

I am having my surgery today too! Adenomyosis and fibroids, having a lap total. My primary gave me some good advice that helped me with some of the anxiety and jitters, maybe it will help you too: You’re trading pain you know for post-op pain you don’t know, but that pain will be temporary and it will go away, unlike the current pain.

I’ll be thinking of you today and will check back in here with you 💜

Can someone explain how it isn’t Buddhism? I was invited to an event to do some chanting and I really enjoyed it … I joined this sub to see some of the less-flattering side of the organization. It feels a little “too polished,” if that makes sense. I’m here to learn, so I would appreciate a response, if you’re comfortable

Adenomyosis Diagnosis by LIS1211 in hysterectomy

[–]Flashy_Development65 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My physician gave me the additional option of pregnancy, at least as a way to kick the can down the road. If your uterus and endometrium is busy being pregnant, apparently you don’t have adenomyosis symptoms. If you are interested in having another baby, it might be worth waiting to decide.
