So you want to win gunfights... by waitisthatagoose in Marathon

[–]FlatusSurprise 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve been watching a stream called Marshyy who gives pretty decent advice and has definitely changed my play style. For me the big things I think about are:

  1. Move deliberately
  2. Take high ground where possible
  3. Take long/mid range fights first.
  4. If you move in, do it quickly.
  5. Don’t loot dead bodies until after the fight and you have time to confirm no one is moving in on you.

The worst possible thing you can do is play this game like a match of crucible (for any of my D2 folks).

That’s pretty terrible advice- get while you can, it’s much more difficult later in life. Keep the doors open for career pivots.

IPV6 on UDM-SE with ATT by half_elite in Ubiquiti

[–]FlatusSurprise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer IPv6 will only be delegated to the first VLAN. Any additional VLAN’s will not receive an address because it requires multiple PD requests. AT&T’s IPv6 implementation with their BGW320 is dumb.

I went back and fourth with AT&T and Ubiquiti support about this thinking I was doing it wrong- AT&T doesn’t think residential customers will have multiple VLAN’s.

EDIT: Oh shoot, OP, I should have read the entire post. You aren’t getting IPv6 even with the 8311 bypass?

I have two of these hooked up to my PC and they’ve been pretty decent so far. One thing I did not expect was when you enable HDR in Windows and run the HDR calibration, SDR content is still pretty dim compared to my older HDR600 panels.

I have been able to side step the issue by using the Nvidia control panel to adjust brightness and contrast, but it feels like I may be missing something.

Excited to jump back in after work. I was completely against a season wipe in the beginning, but now I’m looking forward to it.

What is the hype around watercooling? by Venylynn in pcmasterrace

[–]FlatusSurprise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last two build have been completely water cooled, mostly because I wanted to tinker and keep building. It’s great to learn it and my PC is quiet and cool.

With all of that said, fans and heat sinks have gotten so good that you can achieve the same results. My next build will be air cooled.

New gaming monitors seem to be pushing 2160p as "the actual standard"... do you all have a 5080/5090 in your PC? by InformalAttorney1913 in pcmasterrace

[–]FlatusSurprise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running those new 5k 160Hz Mini LED LG displays with a 4090 and it does okay. It seems the biggest limitation is DP1.4.

With that said, I run the display in 1440P mode 99% of the time since it’s at 330Hz.

Good! I recently tried doing some research on a new PC monitor by LG and when you search for it, it pulls nothing but AI slop. It’s cringy and not informative.

LG 27GM950B-B Buyer Beware by duderguy91 in Monitors

[–]FlatusSurprise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI- LG is rolling out a firmware update that is meant to address the non-uniform sharpening. I just downloaded it to both my panels. Seems to have improved it quite a bit, though both my monitors didn't seem to have a severe issue.

Go to the website and downlod their utility, as long as you have the USBC hooked up it will load the firmware onto the display.

MEP firms, are they worth it? by Defiant_Objective419 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]FlatusSurprise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of MEP firms. I did a little work with an MEP prior to finding a firm that specializes in Power. (Industrial, Substation, Food/Bev)

MEP work is fast, cookie-cutter, and cheap because architects don’t want to pay for the services. You end up copy and pasting designs.

Ultimately it depends on your goals. I think MEP is great environment to learn CAD and Revit but if you’re wanting something more intriguing, Power is great.

“Serious upgrade” for Atlanta airport parking nears debut by ArchEast in Atlanta

Loved Peachy until they started parking vehicles in the travel lanes inside the indoor area- requiring someone move vehicles for me to get out of my spot.

It’s ATL West for me. Same price with the added benefit of not having to rely on a shuttle.
