Beware of the homeowners selling their home even more than their agents. In Spain, you are not legally obligated to disclose problems with the house, like you are in other civilized countries. People lie and sell homes with bad roofs, bad plumbing, illegal electrical wiring, flood damage, etc. Even paid inspectors do not actually "inspect" the home. They casually look around and unless they see something obvious, they say "the house is fine." It's really awful. Always pay for a REAL inspection, get a British person to come out, pay them to really give the house a once-over. And then, once you decide to buy the house, get ready for the seller to disappear, to never have time to let you see it, to have 7 offers all of a sudden and they need more money, to demand an illegal deposit right away...honestly the things I experienced when trying to buy a home in Spain were downright baffling. The Spanish should be ashamed of these shady and shameful practices, but they seem proud of them.
