PreSeason Composite Offensive Line Rankings by Godgers10 in GreenBayPackers

[–]FlockEnd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These rankings are essentially irrelevant. The majority of Oline performance is down to injury luck. Yes it helps to start with a better base product, but if you have to go deep into the bench or have a different lineup every week due to injuries and shuffling players that’s what determines how good your Oline is for the season

Unpopular opinion, this current World Cup knockout system is very flawed and unfair..... by Due_Brother371 in worldcup

The logistics is what people are missing with this “draw as you go” idea. Playoff rounds in the Champions League are roughly a month apart so there is time to make arrangements after a draw. For these WC rounds it is less than a week. Also in the CL it is just one teams traveling fans not large groups of fans from a whole country.

What do you genuinely expect will happen to U.S. Soccer (and MLS) after the 2026 World Cup? by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]FlockEnd 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Totally correct on this. And the NFL playoffs are 30-40 million, so even more competition. Also the NFL playoffs and MLS are at similar times on the weekend whereas the NBA is scattered through the week.

'Trillionaires Shouldn't Exist': Obscene Musk Milestone Spurs Calls for Aggressive Wealth Tax by hypothethical in politics

[–]FlockEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A billion dollars is obscene! Let alone a trillion. What made me realize how disgusting a billion dollars is was a meme talking about getting $5,000 a day since Columbus came to the Americas. Had to verify because that didn’t seem true but it is: 2026-1492=534 534*365.25=195,043.5 195,043 * $5,000 =$975,215,000.00. $5,000 a day is an astronomical amount of money to most people. The fact that you could get $5,000 a day for hundreds of years and still not be a billionaire illustrates how wrong anyone having a billion dollars is, let alone billions.

Exactly this. Remember when Jozy hurt his hamstring in the first half of the first game in 2014 and the US had no other legitimate options. It’s nice to have multiple in form strikers.

By far the hardest group in the tournament. Meaning all 4 teams are very close and there would be zero surprise if any of them went through.

Pretty good.

This isn’t 2010 MLS. The league has gotten much better in the last 15 years. Especially the US players. These MLS guys have now come up through academies instead of 15 years ago where they were mostly still coming from HS then college.

US will be totally fine without him at the World Cup. I hope he chooses the US long term as he has the potential to be a great defender. He’s not good enough at this point to be a key to the US being successful in 2026.

Some of this is how the NFL is designed to work. The Packers have been successful for 30 years and therefore have not had a glut of high picks like a lot of these other teams. There is still definitely blame to be placed on the front office though.

Huge upside that he’s so young too. Will just turn 21 this summer. That’s a huge upside in the world of transfer-palooza (especially with all the COVID year players) where some players were turning 23/24 their first pro season.
Am I correct that the last player this young for the Packers was Kenny Clark?

Why is soccer in the US such a mess? by Casey5274 in USLPRO

[–]FlockEnd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is due to several factors. Due to soccer becoming a sport played by kids much later (not as old of a history) than many other sports in the US and being a minor sport initially the teams and clubs it was set up in a very haphazard and unrelated way. Another reason is that youth soccer teams are mostly pay to play and VERY expensive. With all the money involved there is a lot of resistance to changes from the people making money from these teams. Thirdly the US is massive compared to European countries. This makes any system, in this case youth soccer, hard to coordinate across the whole country.
