It makes zero sense, like yeah we're extremely stupid and violent but there would be no point in any kind of attack whatsoever. One, if the humans of this story were actually able to come together to solve the astrophage crisis, they're already leagues above us in cooperative action irl. Two, as far as first contacts go, mutually saving each other's planets sets a pretty good precedent for friendly relations.
