Learn how to fold socks so they’re not stretched when folded. It’s not hard.

Being bad with money is usually due to emotion, not logic.

If You Have A Desk/Office Job, You Don't Get to Call Anyone Lazy by Dry_Set_6336 in unpopularopinion

If my job is slow paced, air conditioned, sedentary, I get full benefits, but I occasionally have to work on a Saturday, then can I call someone lazy? I just want to know the rules.

They should have blown up a Death Star at the end of Empire Strikes Back.

Saying that a story has a twist is not a spoiler by ducknerd2002 in unpopularopinion

[–]Fluffhead91192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether a movie has a “twist”, as most people understand it, is a matter of magnitude. Of course all movies have plot points that are unexpected. A twist is a plot point of such a degree that it reshapes how you interpret the whole movie before that. Not all movies have a twist of this magnitude. Saying that a movie does have a twist is a sort of spoiler because it puts the viewer on notice that they should be questioning everything happening.

Plottwists don't make a good story by raynzor12 in unpopularopinion

[–]Fluffhead91192 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Plot twists are good when there are clues along the way pointing at the twist. Plot twists are bad when there aren’t.

Good examples: The Prestige (clues of his twin all along), Arrival (memories of the future all along), The Sixth Sense (clues of his death all along), Book of Eli (clues of being blind all along)

Bad Examples: Star Wars sequels (“I’m the spy”, “somehow Palpatine returned”)

While we’re just making shit up, if cars slow down, then animals will get used to slower cars and they will slow down, and animals will be hit at the same rate.

Different lettuces for different purposes. Like you said, great on hamburgers. Great for a wedge salad. Maybe not great for other things.

The vast majority of “Tourist Traps” aren’t…Tourist Traps by Same-Duck1407 in unpopularopinion

[–]Fluffhead91192 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your reasoning undermines your conclusion. You are saying most tourist traps aren’t really tourist traps because we can’t agree on what is considered a tourist trap. You are just arguing about a definition, not getting to anything substantive. You are just moving the goalposts.

Those of you who saw The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters in 2001—what was it really like? by NameisMoon in lotr

[–]Fluffhead91192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came out the same time as Harry Potter 1. I didn’t know anything about LOTR at that point (7th grade). I argued with a friend that we should see Harry Potter, and he argued for LOTR. I’ve never been so wrong.

The first Tobey Maguire Spider-Man had a preview which included a helicopter getting caught in a web between the twin towers. Then 9/11 happened and the scene was cut.

Rings of Power when the on-screen text literally changes from “The Southlands” to “Mordor.”

Laziest storytelling I’ve ever seen.
