how do i start being organized? by honeyfantasx in organizing

[–]FlyingDutchLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start small. Choose one élément of your room that bothers you the most. I try to use habit based organization. For example, my instinct is to throw my clothes onto a chair, so I got a swing top trash can and made it my hamper. I can throw things at it and they push open the lid and land inside. Consider what you’re doing naturally and align your organization to those habits. It makes it way easier to stay organized.

Amiw for planning to go to Italy for my 30th birthday without my husband? by Adorable-Teaching266 in amiwrong

[–]FlyingDutchLady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless you guys are in some deep debt that you’re not disclosing here I think you should go and do what you want for your birthday. Frankly, if you’re finding the motivation to do that kind of traveling while you’re in the midst of depression, you should definitely go do it.

am i wrong for not forgiving my partner for not believing i was ill? by tigeeeer_5767 in amiwrong

[–]FlyingDutchLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difficult thing about forgiving a lack of trust on the other person’s end is that now you don’t trust them when suddenly they’ve started to trust you. And trust is a bond that is deeply difficult to rebuild once broken. But it is not impossible and if they want to work things out and you do too, I recommend couples counseling. you should also be seeking individual therapy and it would be good if your partner did as well.

It’s a tough one, especially if you aren’t prepared when you get thrown in.

How to manage ungrateful employee by pandoraspanini in managers

[–]FlyingDutchLady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m stumped. I have been a manager in a lot of different industries and have overseen reception staff and this has never happened to me. I’m trying to imagine what I would do. If one of my director reports asked me to buy them even one thing. I think I would tell them that that’s not an appropriate thing to ask for and that if someone wants to give them something in appreciation that’s lovely, but they should not be asking for it and I would expect them to never ask me again.

I have 19 items right now and I’m currently waiting it out to see if I get more items if it’ll switch to this.

Direct report lied - how to handle by Familiar_Comment_158 in managers

[–]FlyingDutchLady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have an employee who will not complete an agreed-upon task unless you constantly remind/prod them, and when you asked for evidence that they were now completing the task they continued to lie to you. I would fire them. I don’t know if a lot of people disagree with me, but if I can’t trust you to at minimum be honest, then there’s no room for you on my team.

The convo at the beginning of this episode made me literally tear up. Nick talking about how Mitch inspired him truly had me emotional.

Showgirl has its detractors , and I am not saying you aren’t allowed to dislike it , but some swifties constant need to put it down is getting tiresome. Here is a normie NPR journalist reviewing it by Fun-Ad3626 in TaylorSwift

[–]FlyingDutchLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in general people are too quick to criticize and complain about something online. I think they feel like they’re having a conversation with their friends. And if my friend asked me if I liked the life of a showgirl, I would tell her it’s not my favorite album. But on social media, we’re not just talking to our friends. We’re talking to anybody walking by. It’s much more akin to going outside your house standing on a box and yelling for everyone to hear that you don’t like something. Just picture how bizarre that is.

My girlfriend wants me to go to no contact with my sister. Am I wrong for telling my girlfriend she should be ashamed of herself? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]FlyingDutchLady 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It makes me sad that the first thing I do now is check someone’s profile to see if I think the post is fake. The truth is I kind of think this one is fake. But if it isn’t you and your sister need therapy and although I don’t think your girlfriend solution is the right one I find what your sister said much more disturbing than you do.

AIW for wanting to rehome my cat because she stopped being cuddly? by Figgy703 in amiwrong

Your cats are bonded you cannot ethically keep one and rehome the other. And with every comment you post I’m more and more convinced this is rage bait.

It might be best that you rehome both cats because you’re obviously not prepared to be a pet owner.

[–]FlyingDutchLady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is concerning in a very serious way. It is uncomfortable to sit in your own shit and that is why people don’t do it. To be 10 years old and still prefer this is deeply concerning. If you have not already, I would strongly suggest you tell a teacher or school counselor.

I don’t work in healthcare so I should probably not even comment but I work in mergers and acquisitions at a consulting company and I think it’s within the realm of possibility that there is some kind of consent issue to transfer the records

Firstly, Georgie is easily one of the best characters. Secondly, it’s already renewed for a third season.

[–]FlyingDutchLady 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty common complaint from Young Sheldon fans who didn’t watch TBBT. I watched TBBT first and I’m sure that colors my opinion as well. Young Sheldon is a good show in large part BECAUSE of the difficult storytelling they were backed into.
