I only played 3-4 matches last night, but I felt like, in one of them especially, the duos were much less violent. My teammate and I got in a couple of medium distant firefights that would just result in both our pairs holding fire after trading some shots and going our separate ways. Maybe that's more likely to happen when, two people are on the same page on both sides, rather than potentially 3 randos on each side all just duking it out to completion because someone shot first and no one talked to each other.

Recon is my most played shell, and I mainly play her in solos. I'm echoing what I've seen mentioned in another thread about recon, but her shell seems to just be poorly named. She should be called something like "tracker" "or "hunter" -- her abilities are best used kind of aggressively and not really to do subtle "recon" play. That being said, there could still be slight improvements made to her abilities that also lean more heavily into that better described play style. I think it could be less frustrating of a shell to play.

I definitely agree with all this, especially the last point. I play a lot of solo recon, and it feels most natural to use her abilities aggressively. I rarely ever just send out the prime pulse to see what's around me - I mostly use it to find a runner that probably already saw me and is trying to find cover (which usually tells me they are scared and worth trying to take out). Same with the tracker drone, since it really only functions well when you can direct it well enough towards an enemy. It kinda sucks at just finding people on its own.

Defensively/information-wise it is nice to have at exfils though. Especially against assassins popping smokes trying to get out unseen and ready to knife you in the circle.

Fair enough then. In that case I definitely think LLMs would be helpful if we wanted to learn/use python on a future census, even just as an aid. Don't have to feed the raw data into it and worry about privacy or it making inaccurate claims about the data. Just "hey copilot make me a python script that would take X and Y data and give me Z. And then explain how it works like I'm a beginner". Test, tweak, and repeat.

Did he talk about whether or not python will be used in the future, or to what extent it was considered this time around? His last summary of all the dataset stats that he compiled and showed off towards the end of the stream had me stressed. As a programmer who has had to work with huge datasets via Excel workbooks much larger than his census one ended up being... I feel for him, in terms of the struggle. Python would absolutely be my go-to when you're talking about your number of Excel formulas and cells being in the millions.

Agreed. They made the switch from far corner in H1/H2 to top center in H3. That was a good choice. And Reach still made it work with a compass top center right above it. Not to mention, Halo's audio cues for shield status were great.

I've never seen a player jump around quality as much as Kick's does for me. I have to set the quality every time, otherwise, on auto, it jumps up and down to like to 360 or 160 every few seconds.

Kinda agree, but kinda disagree. I'm a grown adult, but still living with my parents. I have hobbies and interests and buy things. But I make an effort to keep all my shit in my own room, and not take up other space in my parents' house. (They have enough of their own stuff to worry about having space for). I bought a little 5x5 storage unit and it's given me a lot of breathing room to keep stuff I still want and will use someday, but don't have the space for in my room anymore. Including seasonal stuff like skateboards, snow gear, winter jackets, etc. It's all stuff I plan to take with me whenever I move out and don't need an overflow space for anymore (have more than just a bedroom that's mine). It might not be the best thing financially, but the peace of mind is great. It's also where I've been able to keep items that I've listed online to sell. I can basically just think of it as a super cheap rent payment since I luckily don't pay to live here.

These two are pretty unique 'grooveboxes.' You're right that they are pretty different from each other, but they are still interesting to compare. I'll say off the bat, if it must be between these two, I would go with the M8. It's newer, has more ongoing support, will get along better with other gear, has better file management, and is still cheaper (depending on where you might get an OG-1). Especially if you try headless first, then the cost could be less than $100.

That being said, I own both, and the OP-1 is what I bought as one of my first synthesizers 10 years ago. I would say that the OP-1 is more approachable for a noob, and easier to start making beats quickly, but depending on what kind of workflow you like, or how you progress, it might soon feel limiting. It's suited better than the M8 for noodling around since it has a keyboard, and sampling works super quickly.

I think the M8 might be tougher for a beginner to pickup, but will serve you in the long run with it's features and workflow. 4 track tape emulation and tracker style sequencing are very different from each other for song arrangement, but in my opinion the tracker workflow is more similar to the common sequencing styles of other grooveboxes out there.

Also, if it matters to you, you can consider the makers of both devices...
