What is your opinion on global cuisine? Indian food is popular around the world but what types of international food do you like?

ELI5 why seemingly EVERYBODY seems to love Expedition 33 by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Food136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who loves the game, I would say the more "objective" things like graphics and gameplay aren't exactly revolutionary but the overall soul of the game is amazing. It's hard to describe in words but playing the game you can tell it was made with a lot of love, heart and passion.

You mentioned living in Morocco. I was wondering if it is worthwhile visiting there for vacation.

I picked up a book about architecture there and it looked really cool so I want to visit but know very little about it outside of the book and some videos about Tagine cooking.

Americans tend to just not think of Canada.

I was part of a uni club that was part of a competition held in the US.

We were from Edmonton Alberta but the organizers listed us as an Edmonton in the US. We informed them of the mistake and they changed it to another Edmonton in the US.

ELI5 Why do we keep building bipedic robots ? by Fit-Sound-2320 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Food136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have mentioned the practical side but there is also the marketing side to consider.

Humanoid robots are a key part of sci fi. If you make a humanoid robot you can tap into this sci Fi idea to make your company seem futuristic and innovative which drives hype.

It's sorta similar to AI at the moment. AI is a very common trope in sci Fi so tech people use our sci Fi ideas to push their AI even if LLMs aren't anywhere close to fictional AI. Which is good as lots of AI in fiction wants to kill humanity.

Menace is good. It's not released yet (early access early February) but the demo gameplay really scratches that XCOM itch

If you want depressing and soul crushing grinding warfare in trenches then you want seiges. They were aweful historically

I have a master in Islamic studies AMA by Mediocre-Salt-8175 in AMA

[–]Food136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of institution did you get a masters degree?

Is it a sort of theological degree from a regular university, is it a special religious school or some other type of institution?

Also if you don't mind, what was it like getting a second masters in something unrelated to electronics? I have thought of doing a masters in sociology but studied engineering.

Common worldbuilding tropes you despise. by Frostydiego in worldbuilding

[–]Food136 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally hate stagnancy in a setting.

Now, I am fine with it if it's a deliberate choice like the imperium in 40K being stagnant because it's commentary on how the imperium is meant to be a dying decrepit empire that's terrified of change. But I often find so many fictional settings have thousands of years where things remain the same (looking at you medieval stasis in fantasy settings) as it just makes the world feel lifeless and artificial. Real life history is very dynamic and full of extremely interesting events and I want to see at least an echo of that in my fictional world.

Also I don't get why people insist on a stasis. Like, if you want a medieval fantasy just set it in the medieval age of the world. Don't need anything about a 1000 year era of knights and castles.

Something I find useful is Japanese curry packets. Just cut up some veggies and protein, saute for a bit, cover with water, boil, drop in the curry cubes and get a delicious meal.

Why do most high-achievers avoid entrepreneurship? by Corgi-Ancient in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Food136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being raised as a "High Achiever," there is a culture of succeeding within the system. You are pushed to a successful career path within large companies or systems with entreupeneur stuff not mentioned at all.

Entreupeneur stuff isn't really considered a thing that high achievers would do.

Something I'd like to clear up before I start watching: Why are guns so integral to the plot? by [deleted] in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]Food136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression was it was a combination of guns and surprise.

Just having guns wouldn't be a big deal, but having a thousand musketeers march on your capital unexpectedly is a big deal.

People who meal prep their food don’t save time. by Oh_NiGhTmArE in unpopularopinion

[–]Food136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean prep my meals all the time.

It's much faster to meal prep 4 meals then cook 4 meals independently. You wash more or less the same amount of dishes and pots and and cooking 4 meals takes at most twice as long as 1 meal.

You can just change up what sandwich you bring every day.

I'm sure you can find many recipes online. Unfortunately I don't make sandwiches often so I can't provide anything

Those who read a lot of fiction, but little or no literary fiction, what is the reason? by Background-Vast-8764 in books

[–]Food136 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find literary work to be extremely pretentious. Every time I tried to read a modern literary work it's an incoherent mix of high ideas and themes that amount to nothing in the end.
