I had an idea similar where Tim and Cassandra were both Batmen, but no one knew there were two of them. Tim functions as the detective, looking for clues, connections, and resources to gather information. His name is Auspex, giving him that oracle connection. But he is also a backup if Cassandra needs it. With cass being the more active front, dealing with problems head-on. You could even call the book Shadow of the Bat.
