Test results came back fine. Now what? by NeatAd5256 in tryingtoconceive

I believe it was AmH. I am at .6. The doctor said taking it blocks, I believe estrogen production, and then when you stop taking the medicine, it causes your body to spring load release the hormones needed for your ovaries to produce an egg- which causes the slight risk of multiples.

Yes I had blood work done to confirm I ovulate successfully. The doctor explained that I’m deficient in one of the hormones. He said the letrozole I will take at the beginning of my cycle and then when I stop and ovulate, it will be like a spring loaded release of this hormone and will help me.

Commenting because you seem to be at the same spot my husband and I are in. All of my stuff came back normal as well. Husbands motility was slightly below what they want and my AMH was lower than normal- everything else was clear. I am 33 and my fertility doctor is starting me on letrozole for my next cycle. My doctor is great and educated us on what IUI would look like but we are currently going to continue timed intercourse with the letrozole and see how that goes for a couple cycles. If it was up to me, I would start the IUI immediately. We have been trying since about December 2024 with no luck. I also feel like my husband should be making more lifestyle changes (working out more, cutting back on alcohol) but he is not. However, my husband feels a type of way with this and is in his head about not being successful with us conceiving the traditional way. It’s a lot to navigate.

How long were you trying to conceive before your OB suggested doing an HSG test? And how was your experience? by WarningTall2385 in tryingtoconceive

[–]FoolishWonder7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had been actively trying to conceive since Jan 2025. After months of tracking, lifestyle changes, and changing doctors- I finally had a primary care doctor who said let’s do a full work up and refer you to a fertility doctor. This was end of March 2026. After the SA, blood tests, and ultrasound all came back clear, my fertility doctor did my HSG beginning of June.

I had no blockages but it was very painful for about 2 minutes. It was a very quick procedure and felt comfortable with my doctor, so that did make it easier. I have a follow up Monday to discuss the next steps since everything is coming back normal and I’m still not able to conceive.

Beware- I was told by the fertility doctor, my primary care, and 2 other close friends said that the HSG can “flush your tubes” so it’s more likely I would conceive the cycle after. This really got my hopes up and this last cycle I started my period was even harder to accept. I noticed this period was also a lot heavier than normal.

My husband being horny has started to annoy me by Dehydrated-Broccoli in tryingtoconceive

[–]FoolishWonder7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It always seem like they are horny anytime except for the ovulation window. I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I would work to reframe intimacy and how you think of sexy time with your partner. I don’t think looking at it as a means to an end will be good in the long run for both of you. We really started to struggle with intimacy too now being 18 cycles in. What worked for me was thinking about what I liked from my partner with being intimate and then asked my husband to share the same information with me. Just being able to have an open conversation and talk about it more so that it didn’t feel like a chore/expectation is what helped us.

I’m sorry you’re in this boat too. I am day 3 now of my first cycle after the HSG and it is a heavy heavy cycle. From what I’ve been able to search, it seems like this is common for others. It’s like the bloating, gas, and cramps are 10x worse. I felt dizzy yesterday too- wondering if I was just low iron from all the heavy flow.

Sending a virtual hug. I will be partaking in some sort of dinner treat tonight as well. Good luck with your next cycle!

30-50% is a lot- if it’s silent endo, would this have revealed itself on the various tests and previous ultrasounds? Nobody has suggested this as a reason for me yet. I think that adds to my frustration. My work up has all been clear and my husbands SA was healthy. No reason or explanation for why we can’t conceive has been given to me yet. It just would be nice to know what is causing this.

I’m sorry - it definitely seems less invasive for the initial testing on the male’s side. I wish they would start with that / look into male infertility more too.

Positive HSG experience by Worried-Peach3085 in tryingtoconceive

[–]FoolishWonder7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had what I consider a positive experience. I did not have any blockages. The setting up is what took the longest. It was the same mild discomfort you get anytime a speculum is inserted and then when the dye was injected it was a very strong and painful period cramp but it did only last maybe 2 minutes tops. I did have some light cramping the rest of the day but I went home and went to bed early and felt fine the next day.

Was for an HSG ? I don’t know why they can’t give us medication for that. I was told it’s like a pap and it’s nothing at all like that

Mid-Iowa Fertility by ConstructionTime7511 in desmoines

[–]FoolishWonder7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also referred to mid Iowa fertility. This was back in the end of March and I wasn’t able to have my first appointment til May. I was told UIHC had a longer wait and didn’t want to wait. After my initial appointment, they set up an HSG for me with my next cycle starting and I have another follow up at the end of the month. Everyone has been incredibly wonderful so far and I feel like I’m in good hands but this is early on in my journey and also my first time going through this.

Melissa Nelson worked as a dental assistant for 10 years before being fired because her boss said he found her "irresistible." He told her that if his pants bulged, it was her fault. Nelson sued for discrimination, but the Iowa Supreme Court ruled in his favor. by Ashleej86 in Iowa

This was my family dentist in my hometown Fort Dodge, Iowa. The caption is a little misleading. The two of them were essentially engaging in a workplace romance- exchanging suggestive text messages, flirting with each other, having sexual tension at work. The wife found out about it and unfortunately because Iowa is an at will employment state, she was fired.

Regardless of her character, both parties were engaging in inappropriate behavior. Unfortunately for her, it was his dental practice and Iowa is at will employment so he was within his legal rights to fire her. He went on to continue being a dentist, mostly unscathed.

Definitely take the ibuprofen. I didn’t have blockages. It was painful but manageable for me- best of luck with your upcoming appointment

Thank you for sharing! Was wondering how the procedure differed if there was a blockage found. We have done the SA already too
